Aqua Therapy

Hi I hope every one is doing fine.I have a question that I hope some one can help me with.I'am suppose to start therapy tommow and was woundering if any one else takes this typ therapy?if so is it hard on your joint's?I was just woundering what I'am up aginst.Any info would be great.

Hi Curly,Hydro theropy or aqua theropy is super fantastic! Believe me your going to love it. It's something I get to enjoy for exercise even with my liver disease. Aqua theropy is so good for the joints & no pain! When you exercise in water there is no gravity to fight,so it's a lot better & less painfull & less tiring than on land. Don't worry about it, Just go & enjoy yourself ok?

Thank's Lerie for the info.I swear the way my joint's have hurting me bad and my pain doctor and my Rheumy thought that this may help.I'am at the point I will try any thing.Again than's so much for replying.

I have had this kind of therapy more then once it was fun where my pain dr is they have the pool you do it in i just sat in the water and they had me do bicycle exercises setting down i had to walk back wards and forwards bob up and down in deep water with a belt on to hold me up leg lefts it was fun and i felt so good and it really helped our local ymca does this also one of our nursing homes have a pool and you can do it there also and if you don't have insuance or none at all these places are pretty cheap its 20.00 a month at the ymca here and its 6 days a week DEB

Thank you so much for sharing your experence with me.i whent for the first time today and they had me in the pool and had me hold on to the railing and had me kick my leg's and then i was put on a tread mill I thought that it was so cool and I had no pain either

I also do Hydro Therapy, only I do mine at home. I went to a few classes to learn what to do, and let me tell you..it is the next best thing to...

Thank's every one,I have another appointment this comeing thursday.I was told that they would fit me with a knee brace that will help keep the presure off of my knee's.

Mela, oh girl that water will really make you feel good as long as you don't overdo it. You have to build up just like with any exercise. I cannot wait until my pool warms up, end of April or 1st May I can sometimes swim if we have had some really consistent warm weather. I went to water PT before and just loved it. It did not hurt because of being in the water. I sure hope I can get a little movement going in my knees once i am able to get in my pool. i really wish i had a heated pool. Hugs, Susie

Hey Susie when it get's worm enogh can I please come over use your pool.You are lucky to have a pool.My oldest sister is thinking about having a pool put in,and if she does well that will be where I will be found.

Hey Mela, when it warms up come on to fW and we will have all the aqua therapy we want. I also have a jacuzzi outside, have not been in it since pump, there is a temperature cut-off on the pain pumps and I don't know what it is. Thats jacuzzi has saved my ole hide more than once. Can you walk up stairs, i live in a 2 story remember. lol Thats where all the extra bedrooms are at. Hugs, Susie

PS: The best money I ever spent was having my pool put in, its an inground-not real big, just right and I still have grass in the yard for my 2 boys. Hugs, Susie

Susie hey,glade you ask it has been a hard week for me.My left knee is in werse shap than they originaly thought so I'am to take the theraphy to help strenthen my tendon's and then I will have surgery one this has been done gotta tell you my theraphist is killing me even thoe I know it is in my best interest.I go another blow as well my doctor also said that i need my ledt ankle as well and we are desiding (spelling)if we are going to do both are do it seperatley.I would like your opinion thoe.What would you do if it were you?Would it be in my best interest to have both done at the same time are do I needd to have them done sepertaly?My ortho is telling me that he would like to do both at the same time that way I could heel at the same time as to were if I had two surgery's that would mean alot longer recovery.I will have to have hip done as well but he said he would like to hold off on the hip because it was not in as bad as shap as compared to the other's.That is the report for right this minute oh he did tell me that due to the disease's that I have that I would have to take antbotic's for at least ten day before surgery and then will continue on them for another ten day's possibley longer depending on how I did.Thank's so much for asking and I want you to know that I truely value your opinon.I would like to as how you are doing I know that you said you had a bad week-end and that they increased your pain med's.I will be glade when they can get your pain under controll.
