I was just thinking about this after I was recently in the hospital this last time and they asked me one of their standard questions, "Are you an Organ donor?"
I wondered what thoughts crossed other people's minds re this issue from a personal view point, not a politcal one?
I am an Organ Donor, but I've wondered at times what would be left to donate? :) So I've looked up some sites that I thought you all may be interested in looking at and commenting as you'd like.

Hi Teri et al,
I was an organ donor until I had cancer,then they would only use my corneas. Having been on amiodarone for several years I have corneal deposits, harmless to me but not as a donation! I have willed my body to the University medical school. When they have finished with it they cremate it and scatter the ashes over the sea (I like the sound of that!) If requested they will return ashes to the family....Jay (i was going to add a skull and crossbones smiley, then thought maybe not!!)

I'm an organ donor. I hope it's something I don't have to worry about for a while though. :) Both my husband and my parents know that I want to donate my organs. Goodness knows I won't be needing them anymore! Those were interesting pages Teri. Thanks for the info!

Icannot be an organ donor for Imhave NF1 whih is short for neurofibromatosis 1 . oh well. My hubby cannot be one either due to his age and the medicines he was on when he was in the wreck and coma back in 1966 but heck if one of my sons needed a midney I would try to give one of my kidnetys to them despite my nf1.

People don't even realize this, but someone who's been burned, can use skin grafts from donors and there are parts of your eyes that can be used to help someone see. Read some of the sites I listed above, you may be surprized!
