I have also heard that. It suppose to have the good fat. My question is 'how would you prepare an avacado?" i've never eaten an avacado, any good recipes or suggestions?
I've watched the Food Channel a lot and one thing I learned was just how to get the pit/seed out! tongue In the past I thought the fat they had in them was bad, so I never considered using them~so help!!

We need more help than knowing how to get the seeds out! lol

Yummy Recipes Anyone?!

"Older Hearts Benefit from Fish, Soy Oil"

"In elderly people, omega-3 fatty acids contained in fish and soy oil increase a measure of heart-healthiness called heart rate variability, a small study indicates.

Taking a daily fish or soy oil supplement may therefore reduce the risk of developing irregular heart rhythm or succumbing to sudden cardiac death."

Fish oil supplements also helps with cholesterol. Also my dietitian suggested in add soy to my diet for diabetes. I eat those soyburgers. They're pretty tasty with lettuce and tomatoe.
I've tried a lot of the different soy products and even got my 16 yr. old liking some of them...but one thing I really love, is a veggie burger, or even a very low in fat turkey burger cooked on the grill!! yeah   It really adds the extra pizzaz that's needed when you're making changes in your diet and you aren't used to the perhaps blander tastes of these things.

Thanks jtu!! tongue

I cut the avacodo in half scoop out the big seed. you can make a nice houselnt out of the seed I have been told take 4 toothpicks place them around the seed put the pointedtip up the flat part of the seed down in a little cup of water and it will sprout when big enough put it in some potting soilminus the toothpicks and watch it grow.

I've heard the same thing. I tried grape juice for a month, but the sugars got me. So now i just eat seventeen grapes per day. The dark grapes that is. I hate fruit, but i like good health. lol
jtu,

I say this only because I believe you've mentioned that you're diabetic as well?-me, too.

I love grapes and fruits, the one thing though that I really have to watch is the grapes!  They really send my blood sugar soaring.  So if you notice that happening, you'll know why...Is that why you eat 17 per day? lol

Here are some other healthy foods for anyone who wants to improve their cholesterol readings and they're ones you've all probably heard of already, but I figured it never hurts to remind ya! yeah

I really love the fiber cereals and start my mornings off with a big bowl of twigs! lol  Then for lunch I try to follow with fruits~guess I'm not a huge meat eater, though I do eat it...

Another idea for lowering cholesterol is eating Walnuts!  Yes, they're supposed to be very healthy for us, too, they may help to lower your ldl, along with almonds.

Soy is another source of protein to help lower your ldl.  I drink soy milk with my twigs in the morning and boy is that good! tongue

Oatmeal and other whole bran cereals are also very good for you and help you to lower your ldl.

Eating Fish like Salmon (lemoned and peppered on the grill with lots of fresh garlic)~Yummy!!  Albacore Tuna, Lake Trout, or if you can find someone that's reeled in a whale or seal, that would be a sure winner! smurf

Make sure you drink plenty of water to help flush your body out and keep you well hydrated, unless you have a medical problem that limits your fluid intake.  Try a glass of water with a meal instead of a soda.

Here's hoping a few of these ideas help you to help yourself!

Ginger

Did you know that Ginger is another healthy spice?! tongue

I read in the yahoo news that if you freeze Ginger it'll make it way easier to grate~Good idea!

They say that it may also help decrease your risk of a Heart Attack. yeah   Ginger inhibits a compound called thromboxane B-2 that can cause blood clots.

It seems to help with someone suffering with nausea and motion sickness.

I bet there's more remedies?  Anyone heard of anymore??
