Been denied

Hey everybody,

Boy was this a disappointment.  Then again, knowing the system and how unfair it is...I'm not surprised.
Guess I have to appeal.  I just hope I can physically do it.  They say I can do it online.  I hope I get a hearing.
Basically because I'm not blind...I'm OK.
So there is this career out there somewhere where I can do from in my bed, for a few minutes a day when I'm able and earn a living & be insured??  Is this true??  If they can find that, I'll take it.  But I'm pretty sure that was made ILLEGAL a long time ago.  Ok, I have some humor...I must not be that depressed right now.
I know I'm not the only one that's been through this and that's what's getting me through right now.  So there will have to be a third time around.
I hate this and I really hate my body.
It's so much easier to be normal.

This too shall pass.
erin
Hey Erin -

So sorry to hear this... I honestly just don't get it... what do we have to do to prove disability?  You're right, this too shall pass... you're stronger than you think, you'll be fine... Appeal, and if that doesn't work, appeal again... Didn't you talk to a Senator or something before?  Do you think that would help in this case?

My heart goes out to you... Duck

Oh geez, Erin!!! What is going on with those people! Get a lawyer...forget the appeal - get someone to do it for you! There are a ton of places you can find online.

I sent my 1st appeal at the beginning of the month and haven't heard a peep yet.....

My prayers are with you...I hope you get the support and help you need....I'm floored you did not get it this time around with all that you have been going through and diagnosed with since your last application!

Erin, I am so sorry. I wish there was an easier way to get around this. Life is just not fair sometimes. I so wish that anyone who needed disability could get it without having to jump through hoops. If you could jump, why would you need it, right? :-) I will keep you in my prayers as you are going through this. I agree with Camama, get a lawyer to do the work for you. They might be able to find a loop hole that might get you qualified sooner then your personal appeal could.

Thanks Oreo, you're great.  You guys I feel have helped me most to get through that ordeal.

The appeal is being sent in the mail.  I should get it next week.  I know that there are lawyers who take no payment unless you get your claim settled.  I have to think about it.  I most likely will end up getting a lawyer...(perhaps it's time to call some peeps who owe me favors!)

Money is a major issue.  I was getting by OK for a while...but today, forget it...the Dr and transportation and meds set me back.  I want one of those pro bono lawyers!

One step at a time.  Doing my best to keep positive.

There are lots of lawyers out there that can help you with no cost to you... you should at least call and see what your options are, you don't have to get one now, but at least have one on "retainer" so to speak. Let us know how it goes.... Duck

I've seen on the internet that there are some out there that won't take a dime unless you win, then they take a percentage of your retro check. So, I would guess if they feel you don't have a chance - they won't take you in.....HOwever, erin, I can't imagine with your list of issues that they would even consider denying taking your case.

Thought and prayers and gentle hugs your way.

:-)

yeah  ERIN, Get a Social Security Lawyer!  That's what I did after TWO denials.  It took me two years (counting from the time I started) but it was worth it.  She (lawyer) took a small percentage of my settlement, which was retro from the time I became disabled (about five years of monthly payments from the time I had to stop working at the hospital).  It can be done.  That's what some of these folks specialize in.  Get on the phone.
I've been gone again and missing you guys.  Had "bunion surgery" on Nov. 23 but it turned into a joint replacement.  So much for simplicity, huh?  That's the neat thing about being "one of us", never a dull moment.  Life is full of surprises.  I'm blessed in that I was referred to one of the best podiatric surgeons in the state with a personality to boot!  I love him.  Even with an ugly "boot", stitches, and bandages the pain is gone.  Gone, tell you.  I forgot what it was like to walk and not scream at the same time.  I lost about a week of my life as I am about the cheapest date in town and it took forever for the Morphine to get out of my system.  Hubby had fun with my talking in my sleep and forgetting how I got from one room to another and why.  Heehee.  I'm still at home and not "babysitting" at the business.  Get my stitches out tomorrow.  My love to all,  Boo
Oh Boo, my goodness. Glad to hear that you are feeling better! Good luck to you and let us know what the doc says tomorrow! - Duck

smurf  hey Boo!  i'm glad you're recovering well.  hope it continues.  yep...never a dull moment.
thank you for your suggestion on the ss lawyer.  so far, i am going to fill out the appeal and new medical info (it really looks as if they just looked at JUNE! for all of my medical info!)  all the dates they refferred to were in June...what the heck?  yeah, and what about the rest of the past 5 years????????? confused    don't get it! confused
i'm going to talk with a good friend of mine who is in the life insurance business...he knows a lot about this stuff.
and if i need a lawyer & feel things are really not right, i will get one.
i just feel very discriminated against, every time they say...oh, your age/education/job training....blah blah BLEH!
thank you again for your thoughts.

Erin, they're probably going to keep doing that to you because of those very reasons.  I would go ahead and talk to a SS lawyer.
i got turned down the second time i appealed in aug. haven't heard any thing my son is going to law school and he says it takes time i even went to there dr and he couldn't believe i was taking 27 pills and inhalers a day for ddd, arthtritis, astma ,allergies, sugar b/p,ib,fm but iam hanging in there can't give up now DEB

Thanks guys!

Nope, I won't give up.  This is my body and well being I'm fighting for.  Heck...I paid into  the system for over a decade....I did my best all these years while sick, and just can't do no more...at least not now.  I want nothing more than to be better in the future.

Am going to talk with some people this week when I see my appeal package & read it over.

What a terrible thing to go through and put people through when ill.

Makes you wonder, what they would do if they were in your position huh?

Boo, HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back. I have been wondering how you are. It has been a while. So glad that your surgery went well and you are back up and on your feet. The saying is so true that when your feet hurt, you hurt all over. I remember being there and I will do everything I can to not go back to it. My empathies are with you. Will be praying for you as you continue to recover. It is so great to have you back with us.

(((HUGS)))

My daughter has been turned down twice and she is in the process of getting "free" lawyer to handle the case. Do you have any free lawyers places there. We are in Maine and there is a place for low income people and they handle social security cases. I guess the lawyer has never lost any of the cases she has taken. But as you know it takes time. My daughter has already been severaL MONTHS AND THEY SAY ONE YEAR BEFORE BEFORE SHE EVEN GETS A COURT DATE. But after it is over she will have a big check !!!
