Hi Everyone-Hope all is well. Update- I have had UC since 1964 and taken many different meds along the way (Lots of steroids). fast forward to 2022 and I started Entyvio which had me in Full Remission until 2-3 weeks ago and started to flare which is progressing. Diagnosed wit low EF by Cardiologist and started taking Entresto and Metoprolol ER. Had a heart cath the end and April which ended up installing a stent (Requires Plavix and 81mg Aspirin). being 79 with the added Heart issue is evidently challenging due to so many restrictions on Meds that can be used to treat the flare. I would imagine not many on this forum are dealing with this issue. I have researched and Entyvio is the Biologic of choice with these conditions. I have been on the Mesalamine Supp for the last year. Will not be able to get a colonoscopy due to not being able to stop the Plavix and Aspirin for at least 6 months to a year (maybe). Sorry to ramble so much-any ideas or experiences that I should look into would be appreciated.

Can you add rowasa to your current plan in place of the suppositories? That isn't really changing anything but the dosage of mesalamine. Hope you get some answers and start feeling better soon.

Thanks for the coment-Rowassa mixed with the Heart Meds could affect Kidneys so they will try and avoid. Heard back from my GI Dr and doing a Calprotectin fecal test and also trying to get the Entyvio approved for 6 week interval.

Sorry to read that you got cardiac complications affecting UC remission. The Pits! I can't speak to that Rx issue, but hope you can get gut back on track with adequate rest and maybe a fairly cautious diet if you have experience with particular food triggers for flares. Thanks for the encouragement. Dr has sent a request in to change Entyvio from 8 to 6 week interval (waiting on approval). Hope you get your periodontal issues under control. Glad Your UC is in remission.

It sucks that we have to walk such a tightrope with meds. The Calprotectin fecal test should help to know whether it's a flare or a side effect of the meds. Let us know how you make out with this.

It is a tightrope with Meds. Calprotectin fecal test came back at 255. Gi Dr is sending a request in to change Entyvio to every 6 weeks. Hope that gets approved on Medicare Advantage Plan. He wants to hold off on Prednisone if possible due to side affects and my current Meds. It is a wait and see what happens. Will keep you updated. Thanks for the response.

Did your doctor get an Entyvio level? Usually they will want to do this because if you are still at a therapeutic level when you’re due for an infusion, increasing frequency may not help. (Not sure if insurance may require it for approval?) Of course, everyone responds differently so my hope for you is that the increase in frequency will do the trick for you as that would be the simplest solution. Have you also tried mesalamine enemas? If the inflammation hasn’t gotten too far they may help. Or a probiotic? Let us know how it goes.

I have not had an Entyvio Level yet. I have an Appointment in 2 weeks with my GI. Dr. I am on the mesalamine enemas-have been for a while.
