bipolar 2 need advice

i have been to see a professer at my local hospital referred by my pychatrist, shes ran out of ideas.we had a long chat asked about my childhood etc.at the end of the talk he said that because my mother and father  had sufferd from mental health problems,my mother had bipolar 1 and dad clinical depression plus i sufferd from an early age and had repeated relapses that it makes treating my illness more tricky,he also said that it is possible that i could be treatment ressitant but if there is any chance of me improving must start taking my meds.he is going to increase my lithium  lreave the lamical at the same dose and start me on a new drug.at the moment i am severly depressed and self harming badly.feeling very sucidal he wants me to go into hospital been in many times i hate it,my sister who looks after me has no idea about how bad i am.at the moment it is an option one way to end the pain,i am sick of the mental pain all the time.

Hospital certainly sounds like your best bet. I know how frightening the prospect can be. I've been there on more than one occasion. I know you hate the idea, but if you TRULY wish to get better it sounds like your only option. I know you want help gaz, or you wouldn't be at healingwell looking to us for support. Thats what we're here for, but you must help yourself as well. It's time to step forward and onto the path of healing. Don't stall too long. It isn't safe for you to continue feeling this way.
Thinking of you gaz
God Bless
Ellie

Good judgement comes from experience and alot of that comes from bad judgement.

nono  It is absolutely necessary that you stay on your meds as prescribed!  I, too, thought I could do without my meds or take them the way I wanted to.  I crashed into the basement and stayed there for over 6 months!  I never wanted to harm myself but that is because as a nurse I never saw a successful suicide.  Right now I am okay but I always teeter on the edge of that long fall.  Good luck!  Stay in touch with your fellow bipolars!
