Great to hear from you. Well, it sounds like you are working on a great formula for mental health.
Ya, I never cease to be amazed by people asking "what you have to be depressed about". They don't understand that a lot of it has to do with wacky brain chemistry making life more difficult to deal with too. Some of us are depressed simply from chronic illness draining those good chemicals in the brain. Sounds like you have had quite a few difficult issues to deal with though. Sorry sis.
I make sure that I have a full glass of ginger ale in my hand so people don't try and "fill your drink". You are wise to keep alcohol to a minimum. I hope this wedding turns out to be a fun time for you. That would be tough going to wedding after wedding . . . but Mr. Right isn't quite ready for you yet. God is putting the finishing touches on you and him!!
Thanks for the update Kat . . . I think your post will help lots of people who read here, but never post.
Blessings!
In His Grip,
Hi Kat24,
I'm fairlydl new to this forum as well.
I can empathize with how you feel. I was "officially" diagnosed with depression in December 2004 though have probably suffered for a lot longer. I have chronic daily migraines which contribute to it.
I often feel like I'm holding a door closed and behind the door is depression. And you're absolutely right, those days that I make the healthy choices it's a lot easier. Those days I don't I'm bracing myself against the door.
If it weren't for my husband I don't know that I would have got out of bed during the last six months. At the worst I made sure I was out of bed and dressed when he came home everyday. Now I get up with him and go to work again.
Recognizing your challenges is half of the battle. Try drinking pop this weekend or maybe wine spritzers or really light coolers; less alcohol. I drink Perrier; its a fancy drink but no alcohol. If you're sad about being alone do you have any male "friends" you could take with you so you don't feel like you stand out so much.
Good luck! You can get through the weekend!

Hi there Kat24! I am new here, too, but have found that there are some really awesome people with some great ideas that hold their hands out to you pretty quickly! I don't have any really great advice for you, as I am at a point in my life where I am "holding the door closed" myself. But I wanted to say Hello, and let you know that there is one more person wishing for the best for you.
I know that I don't drink like I used to, because the next morning is always a real booger! LOL! I think a glass or two of champagne should be okay, or sparkling grape juice!
That's what we use for New Year's these days! LOL! But if you remember that headache that's coming for you, it's much easier to limit the amount of alcohol you consume, me thinks!
Anyway, I hope that it is a wonderful weekend for you. You never know, maybe there will be a handsome stranger at this wedding with eyes for you! And if not, then dance your butt off and have fun anyway! ( I know, easier said than done! I'm one of those that has never lived what I preach! Sorry!) I do hope that you have fun and continue on the upward climb!
God bless!
Where in the world am I?
