Chest Pain???

Does anyone get chest pain after eating because of their Gerd?  My GERD has gotten SO bad over the last few days and now today after I eat anything Im getting burning in my stomach reflux in my chest and heaviness in my chest and my arms go weak..It only happens when I eat something no other time.... I think i've heard GERD can do this but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this?
Thanks
I get a lot of pain in my chest if my food has had a lot of trouble going down my esophagus during my meal. The pain will continue for about an hour or two after. Are you noticing it happening more when your food is getting "stuck" or just generally everytime you eat?

Strawbrys & Cream -
Having suffered intense chest pain from this gastritis, I know how awful you feel.  In the past 5 or 6 years, I have made three trips to the emergency room with unbearable pain which resulted in a thalium scan the first time to check my heart and an angiogram to check it the second time.  My heart checked out fine both times.
My pain sometimes lasted all day long, but mostly it was just at night....every night.  It about drove me crazy.  The intense feeling of pressure was almost unbearable.
Then, after the third really bad episode, the pain subsided and seemed to be replaced with this awful acid feeling in my mouth and throat, in addition to a horrible feeling in my stomach.  It was as if the pain and pressure had ruptured the LES muscle and relieved the pressure but had started the acid upward.
I no longer have the unbearable pain but it seemed to evolve to this horrendous acid feeling, hoarseness, bad breath, and a bloated stomach.
In the meantime, I have tried Nexium, Prilosec, Protonix, and am now on Aciphex.  Last night alone, I had two tums, Maalox, and water during the night while trying to sleep elevated on a pile of pillows.
I guess I am not offering a solution for you, but am sympathizing with your distress.  The heart testa I had did give me a level of comfort to know it wasn't my heart.  Some heart tests may give you that same comfort.  There always is the possibility of a heart problem so be sure to check with your doctor until he helps you eliminate the concern about your heart.  Good luck.

HI

Tell me about the chest pain- drives you mad dosnt it, I get it alot, medication dosnt seem to help, I feel as though my esophogus is swolen I feel bloated short of breath lots of pain heart burn and the arm thing too, I just keepconvincing myself its my heart- I go for an endoscopy Friday to put my mind at rest although they assure me it is GERD.

Hang in There.

Anytime that you have chest pain and it involves arm pain or weakness, you should get this checked out!  I understand you to say that this is occurring after eating, but please don't take chances with your health!!  At the very least call your Dr. and ask him/or her for guidance re this!

I am not a Dr., however, I do suffer from heart disease as well as GERD and an Hiatal Hernia.  I had an episode of GERD so bad one night, that I did end up in the hospital being watched and checked out for a heart attack.  Thank goodness it was from the GERD!

Hi Strawbrrys,
I hope you are feeling better. I have gotten chest & arm pain w/Gerd on a couple of occasions that landed me in the ER. I have a nephew who also c/o chest pain on occasion while residing w/me at age 12. His mother informed me that he also had reflux, but I wanted to be absolutely sure, so I had him checked out w/a specialist for my own sanity. Chest pain is very serious and should always be checked out if possible. Better safe than sorry.

I hope you start feeling better!

Vanessa
I get the same thing. Chest pain was the main symptom that I had of the whole gerd/ulcer problem. My chest pain has subsided quite bit (to the rotten feeling in my stomach), but still occurs regularly. I ended up with panic attacks on several occassions.

I wish you luck. I would get it checked out (at least for the reassurance it is not heart trouble).

Good luck!
