I am having a subtotal colectomy 13 Jan 06. I am abit nervous - is there anyone out there who has had it and can you tell me how it went - are you recovered? Are you normal? Any information is appreciated.

Welcome! I had subtotal colectomy on 2/22/05 and am doing great, best thing I ever did! I encourage you to go to the Ostomy board, there are is a thread titled "Total Colectomy" there are 7 parts now. We've had this title going for awhile. There is LOTS and LOTS of good information about our problems before surgery, leading up to surgery, what happened in the hospital and recovery. I had total colectomy for inertia in October of 2004 and it was the best thing I ever did! I'm still doing well and I feel great!!!!!!!!
