I've recently been diagnosed with parkinson's. I've also had a coronary bypass and and I am on meds for CAD. We've been trying different meds for my termors and nothing is working yet. I'm 51 and my symtoms are getting quite bad. I also get very tired on some days. Another thing I've noticed is there is my symtoms can vary greatly on a day-to-day basis. Once we find the right drug will it even things out? Some days the tremors are so bad I have trouble eating and the muscle cramping really is wearing on me. The strange part is this all happened so fast. It's been less than six months since it became bad and naturally I'm worried with the speed. My dad had a samll tremor all his life and it didn't become full blown parkinson's until his middle sixities. My sister was diagnosed at 46 and hers is somewhat under control now. But mine seems to be changing faster than both of theirs. Is this par for the course? To make matter worse my COBRA runs out in Feb. Try getting insurance at 51 with coronary artery diease, high blood presure and parkinson's. I'm frustrated, tired and not sure what to do? I'm open to any sugestions or encouragement. Thanks for reading this.
dlor,I was dx 6 yrs ago with pd at 54.Acharacteeristic of parkinson is that it can vary from day to day and hour to hour. Each individual has a different response to this disease as well as the meds.first and foremost dont get discouraged.Meds usually help tremendously.i would also suggest seeing a movement disorder specialist. They are specialized neuros and best for pd.As for tiredness and cramping this unfortunately goes with pd.I would look into ss disability so u can get on medicare.also get on other chat sitesfor as much help as you can get.wishing you the best Ed
I'm 45 and have recently been diagnosed with PD. Right now it's relatively mild and my doctors have recommended taking selegiline or parnate. The parnate involves following a diet (basically foods that are to be avoided). Has anybody used either of these drugs and, if so, what kind of results were experienced? Was the restricted diet difficult to follow?
Thanks Ed.
