I was told to stay away from dairy when diagnosed and so I have not had any milk products and it has helped but I missed my cereal plus the fiber it gave me. I found this wonderful drink called Almond Breeze at the store and am using it now and it is delicious. Not that flat taste that milk leaves in your mouth sometimes. It is a shelf product so you can keep in on hand unopened but refrigerate after opening. I got the vanilla but it was so mild that ididn't even realize it was vanilla. You can also use it for cooking as they have recipes at the Blue Diamond website. Comes in regular, vanilla, chocolate and sugar free also now. It is low fat, no cholesteral, no lactose. casein or gluten. I got it at a specialty store for about half the price of what I saw it at supermarket for. I am really impressed. Just thought I would pass it along.
Hmm, I wonder if that's like almond milk they made in the middle ages? During Lent, most people could not consume dairy products, so they crushed up almonds and mixed them with water to make a replacement for milk in recipes. It's supposed to be real good in stuff, but nutty tasting and a bit oily just to drink it straight up. I have a recipe for making it in one of my medieval magazines; you might could make it yourself for cheaper than buying it, but then almonds are pretty expensive. You'd have to buy them in bulk.
Anyways, good to hear you can enjoy your cereal again. And just think, almonds are really good for you!
