Just spent the morning at the emergency room (again - 6 times in 1 year) for extreme heart palpitations, shortness of breath, blah, blah, blah. I know several of you ladies have diabetes, and it seems that each time I go, my glucose is high, just below a diabetes dx. Also, it seems that these episodes happen often after eating a meal (which was this morning, then after a late lunch more palps.). So, my question is does one with diabetes or prediabetes have heart palps sometmes after eating or just in general?
I've been on meds for the arrythmia but still have it. Going to see a new cardiologist up here in NJ in 3 weeks, but may have to have a nuclear stress test next week. Never had one of those and I'll probably keel over right then and there.
I just so tired of feeling ill! I'm 40 (for a few more weeks) and feel like I'm 102. Is this really what it's all about? I'm so frustrated and down. Any insight would be wonderful!
Sorry to ramble and p & moan so much.

Hi Laure! I am diabetic and I have to admit that I hate it! But just one of the wonderful little gifts that chemo gave me. I have some heart palpitations but it is due to the chemo. I have a mugga test every 3 mos. Feeling tired, no energy is one of the signs of diabetes. After my recurrance, I had no energy. I couldn't even walk in a store w/out wanting to come back home and crawl into bed. I finally told my onco that if this was a result of the chemo, I couldn't live this way. She looked at me, shook her head and told me that I was diabetic. She had been saying this for 3 mos but all of the chemo nurses said the high sugar was from the premeds. Wrong! My counts were above 600. Once I started on the meds, then my energy level was back. I felt alive. Have a specialist check your sugar levels. Do whatever it takes to get the answers. And hang in there. Things will get better.
Hugs...Deb
New day, new outlook. Thanks for the info. Sorry that chemo caused your diabetes, Deb. I guess I'm just in the pre-diabetic stage. I had gestational diabetes x2 and my second son was 10lbs 2oz. I was told then I had a high likelyhood of getting diabetes. Like you, MK, if I lost some weight, that would help. It's a catch 22, however, since even 15 mins gently on the treadmill causes palpitations and freak me out. Hopefully, this new cardiologist will be more aware of all of the issues going on with me and will be able to help!
Take care, ladies.

I have diabetes and heart palpatations. I actually throw PVC's. I have high blood pressure too. The doctors are not sure if the diabetes causes the pvc or if it is stress related or high blood pressure related.
I, of course take my meds for the diabetes, and I am on a high blood pressure meds, but my stress levels have always been high. The doctor looks at all of it as possibly related and keeps a close watch on the heart thing because of the diabetes. I know what you mean about feeling ill all the time. It is exhausting!! I just take a day at a time. Tests do not indicate anything conclusively, so I just keep marching on.
Your tests in July will give you some definite answers. I will have you in my prayers and thoughts.

Sometimes arrhythmia's are benign like the PVC's, but if you are already on a med. for them (a beta blocker?), then it's likely more then a PVC?! I also am diabetic and so was my Mom, who recently passed away. She was 76 and had Breast Cancer.
Lots of things can cause fatigue-that's for sure! So it's great that you are getting this all checked out.
Hugs, Teri :)
PS I hope it was okay, that I poked my head in here?!
