Bipolar x 20 years. Not on any meds - allergic/sensitive to all mood stabilizers.
My mood swings have calmed down, but I sometimes get episodes of a painful feeling in my head that last up to a few hours. My doctor calls it "agitation", but it feels more like abnormal brain activity to me. They make me feel upset, although I don't get either depressed or manic. Some of these episodes are localized to the right or left front side of my head. They're not usually triggered by any anxious thoughts but can come on when I'm feeling stressed, or sometimes out of the blue.
Basically, they seem separate from my mood swings, but somehow related to the bipolar process.
Are these familiar to anyone?
I don't know what the problem is and have never experienced it, but one thing I would say is that your doctor needs to refer you to a neurologist for a complete exam. That isn't normal--probably nothing, but needs to be checked out.
Might be wise to find a doctor who isn't soooooooo dismissive.

I agree with Hayley totally. I would see a neurologist just to be on the safe side. Probably nothing, but you can't be too careful.

Good judgement comes from experience and alot of that comes from bad judgement.

I guess the closest thing I can describe similar to yours is every couple of weeks I get a piercing headache usually right behind my left eye around my temple and it usually only lasts for a couple of hours but I dont have any idea what triggers it. I have been checked out by an eye doc and neuro and they have never found anything. But I would DEFINITELY follow up with a neuro in your case- always better to be saft than sorry.
