I've had a recent flare-up of my IBS recently. My diarrhea is worse, as are a few other IBS symptoms. I've been on Mucinex (guaifenesin) 1,800mg a day for a blocked eustachian tube for about a month and I'm starting to wonder if it's causing this flare-up. Has anyone ever been on guaifenesin and has it affected your IBS? Thanks.

I took Mucinex DM for a couple of days when I was sick and now that you mention it had more BMs with urgency a couple of days later. I'm not sure if it was the Mucinex or because I had the flu and my body was out of whack but I'd be interested to hear if others have had this too.

I'm thinking that since guaifenesin thins secretions (of all types), that maybe it's real possible that it would cause some diarrhea. I'm hoping this at least! .........and hopefully when I stop taking it, things will get better again! Thanks!

Did anyone get answers on this? I'm having the worst case of stomach problems and diarrhea that I've ever had going on a week now with no signs of relief and the only thing I can think of is that before it started I had taken mucinex and right after I took it my stomach seemed to bloat up excessively and hasn't been normal since... any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!! I did stop taking mucinex right after it happened
