While doing some totally random websurfing the other night, a regular pasttime of mine, I hopped around a number of websites that were talking about how quantum mechanics can, at least in the opinions of some scientists, serious scientists at that, go about generating multiple universes, one after another, based on the choices we each make at any given moment in our lives.
And then the choices made by our newly created selves in those newly created universes in turn generate a new wave of alternate universes, which in turn create newly created ... etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum.

And, as a reasonable, relatively well-educated person, so I think, though not a science type, I must say that I personally find the theory that our individual making of personal choices is constantly splitting the universe we are in into many multiple new universes that contain copies of us in it as well, is, well,
CRAZY!
I mean, how could any rational person really believe that an infinite number of universes arise out there to reflect each and every choice any one of us ever makes?
As quotes from the above article put it:
"That volume (of new universes being created) is almost incomprehensible. By the time you finish reading this sentence, countless trillions of parallel universes have branched off from this one, each one microscopically different but accumulating into vastly different realities over time."
and
"The mathematics that make parallel universes possible also make them completely isolated from each other. Once a universe branches, there’s no going back, no crossing over, no communication between them, they’re fundamentally separate realities."
So that the prospect of our crossing over into any of these other universes, or of someone from any one of them crossing over into ours, is a no-go.

So why do the physicists still seriously consider this notion of alternate universes to be any indicator of reality?
What makes them think like that?

Okay, okay, so it gets an A+ in math. It's still bizarro-world. (Excuse me, bizzaro-universe).
But we'll just have to wait and see if science eventually does come to accept the existence of such alternate universes as reality or not.
Maybe it will go as Schopenhauer once observed:
“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self‑evident.”
ANYWAY, what got me to thinking about all of these deep thoughts about multiverses, etc., the other night, was just how each of our multi-universe selves will have dealt with PCa!
That's right, PCa occurring in alternate versions of ourselves in alternate universes.
As this thread's titles notes, there are theoretically other universes out there somewhere where each of us
never got PCa
died from it
went through each of the multiple treatments
our PSA is .01 in Universe A
it's 1.25 in Universe B
it's 5.6 in Universe C
etc. etc. etc.
Okay, enough.
One can rightly point out that this thread is, indeed as noted, bizarro/universe(s), and as much an excursion into fantasyworld as anything else.
But suppose, just suppose, that maybe there really is another 81GyGuy out there in another universe right now, raising a glass of wine in celebration of the fact that his PCa exam came back negative, or another [insert your name] whose PSA just took a nosedive, and he is also celebrating, and very happy about it.
And maybe he's thinking about us, just as we're thinking about him.
Right now.
We're told that the physics says we'll never be able to meet our other universe counterparts.
But perhaps we can at least raise that toast to them as well, and wish them well, as they might be doing for us ... right now.
And it may just be, as the Bard said,
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
More things in heaven, and earth, and, perhaps, in other universes as well.
