You can also try cutting the gas with Beano or Gas-X or chewable gas relief tablets. It can't stink if it doesn't come out!
Chlorophyll pills used to be really popular and I think you can still get them. People used to use them to treat really bad breath that wasn't treated by just teeth brushing. I've heard that it makes your poop smell like grass, though, lol. Better a fresh-cut lawn scent than a dead skunk odor, I guess.
Also, I think smelly poops are a sign of bacterial or yeast overgrowth. Have you been tested for these things? They can be treated with probiotics (OTC) or a combination of antibiotics and probiotics if you're a tough case.

Hi! I am new to this message board and I am SO thankful to have found this thread. I thought I was the only one to suffer from this horrible, almost continuous gas! I feel so relieved (pardon the pun) to know I am not some kind of freak.
I was diagnosed IBS 2-3 years ago after a bout of the usual symptoms - IBS w/C - and a colonoscopy (normal), but no other tests. Took Zelnorm (no side effects) for 3-6 months, started feeling better and stopped. C started returning and dr. (family O.D.) said try Metamucil, etc. Did that, then about 4 weeks ago the gas started. dr. (same O.D.) gave Zelnorm again - helps with the C, but gas is STILL a big problem. I can't teach (have been out of school 4 days in the past 10 because of this). Came home from school today because it was so bad - broke down and cried in the Principal's office when I told her I had to leave (she knows about the problem). I'm staying out in the vestibule during church (when I even go), can't "be" with hubby, I am just a basket case - my clothes even smell!
I'm living on GasX pills and chewables. I've checked my diet and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat. It seems like 3-4 hours after I eat first thing in the morning the gas starts and just gets worse as the day goes on - by 6 or 7 in the evening I'm retreating to my study to protect hubby and the cat.
I have an appt. with my gastro (haven't seen him in 3 years), but not until 4/13. Is there help/hope/something/anything anyone can offer me between now and then?
Thanks for listening and for any help/advice anyone can offer.

does anyone ahve the same thing happen....
I'm new here so any thoughts would be of great assistance...
thanks, and have a great day
But it depends on what you suffer from, are you mostly diarrhea or constipated?
Hemorrhoids can itch and burn and bleed.
I went to a naturalist doctor as a result of suffering from chondritis for 2 years and he also helped to treat my IBS; I had too much yeast...so I avoided all things that would be fermented or would contain yeast for 20-30 days. I ate only "real foods" ; no preservatives. It took a couple months, but I can now eat a nice spinach salad with cucumbers, onions, tomatoes. I hadn't been able to eat a salad in over 20 years. When I eat meat now is usually chicken or fish. However by cleaning out my body, I have found that I have had bad allergies to soybean which contributed to my chondritis. Gas is no longer a problem, but I think I'm developing symptoms of diverticulitis. I would like to chat with someone who knows a little more about this. It seems very painful....does anyone know what foods are bothersome with this condition :shakehehttp://www.healingwell.com/community/emoticons/shakehead.gifad:
Most carbs and fibers are a challenge, obviously beans, but also, sugar (big time for me, and this does include many fruits, the more unripe the worse), fiber (wheat bran, oats, psyllium, etc), dairy (although cultured foods like yogurt aren't as bad, unless they contain lots of sugar). Ice cream and soda, because of the air and sugar content (and the fact that they are cold, thereby slowing the digestive process)are very good gas producers.
For some, healing the digestive tract may be necessary, but for many, changing the diet will rid you of the smelly gas and help to heal more minor issues.
I have suffered for more than 30 years with this problem, which toward the end became extreme. After some dietary adjustments I have eliminated it as a concern for over a year now. And with the healing that has taken place, I have been able to reintroduce many foods back into my diet.
So keep searching, but be thorough, many people will throw up their hands when they have cut out a particular food without success, not realizing that something else they are eating is just as bad, i.e. drop sugar, but not realize that fruit. despite being healthy, can be just as much a problem. They'll eat granola, thinking it is a good source of fiber, but not realize their digestive system cannot breakdown the hard, dry, fibers in it.
Find ways to improve your digestion and you rid yourself of gas. Poor digestion can lead to damage to your intestines and damaged intestines will impair your ability to digest. It is not a viscious cycle so much as a chronic deterioration, if not reversed.
If you keep searching you'll find your solution as I did, and believe me, it's great to have it behind me, (no pun intended). Good luck!
