Yup, their big annual meeting; I used to attend and present at the Big Infectious Disease Meetings when I worked for the CDC, and it's nice because these meetings awaken people's awareness to the Big Issues in whatever discipline they are focused on.  Lots of stimulating conversation and brainstorming.  Then they all go out and get hammered in the evenings!  tongue

Well, I think my PCP is more on target than any of them!  The stuff she is trying is helping more than any of that crap the GIs shoved down my throat (or up my arse)!  I have not had diarrhea since SUNDAY, guys!  This is by far a record!  I haven't gone this many days without diarrhea since a year ago!!

Sarita, that is fabulous! But don't jinx it. Last time I gloated about not have a D attack I had one that same day. Hopefully this won't be the case for you. What have you been doing? Do you think you finally found something (a med, supplement, food, etc.) that has finally worked? I hope so.... you have been suffering too long. It is about time you get some relief.
So what's the scoop with that Arizona guru? Did he/she look at your poop yet?

I don't know Lil but I am really giddy about it, especially today, because I feel rested, pain-free, diarrhea-free, and FEVER-FREE which is very amazing.  It usually goes up at night, but last night was the first night in for as long as I can remember it didn't break 100 degrees.  Maybe the penicillin is helping with that (Tuesday was my first dose); maybe it was the strep causing it. 

I'm eating probably about 1000 calories a day, which, at this point, is about what my body can tolerate.  It's 95% good food (a lot of "liquid food," like soups or banana shakes, plus veggies, whole grains, fruits, lactose-free dairy products, cereals) and about 5% junk, like chocolate.  I'm taking a LOT of probiotics every day (4-6 capsules), plus four Citrucel fiber tablets, 100 mg zinc, two Omega 3-6-9 pills, and a nutritional supplement in powder form. 

I think what is helping, in order of most significant impact to least, would be: 1) probiotics, 2) fiber, 3) decreased food intake, 4) more liquid foods that are easier on the gut.

I don't think this nightmare is over yet, but if I can find something to keep it in check - which I might have - that will be a huge step for me.  I haven't sent my poo to the parasite guru yet because I didn't want to collect it over the weekend due to my illness, and since my illness resolved I haven't had diarrhea and that's what they want me to collect!  I guess I'll wait until I have another typical garden hose day...if one comes!

I'm going to go to the bathroom now...we'll see what happens!
