glucose monitors

I find out at the end of the month if I have type 2 diabetes and I might have to check my blood sugar (as I'm sure most of you do). Have done some research on monitors and of course each manufacture says theirs is the best. But I knew where to go. Right here. What monitor do you use and why? Thanks for the help.
I have used the accu chek advantage for some time now. It is the type you have to prick the finger and not on the arm. And it is slow, but thats the reason I like it. If I don't get enough blood on the strip the first time I still have 15 seconds to add more, on the others I tried if I didn't get a perfect hit the first try I had to waste that strip and start over.

I have an accu check for the arm or leg and it may be used for the fingers also. Pin Cushion, if you need to get more blood from your finger one thing you may try is to use the big rubber bands that come on broccoli as a mini-tourniquet on the finger you're gonna poke to build up a bit of a blood supply before the poke. Read this in Diabetic Self Management Magazine and it really works!

Vinny, the one I use has strips that draw blood up into the strip right from your skin and don't require a hanging drop of blood to test. Also, I can do my pokes on the front of my thighs as well as my forearm. Hardly any pain at all. The lancet (pokey thingie) comes with a little cap with a hole in it that kind of pushes down the skin around the poke and makes the blood pop up in the middle of the hole where you poked. Works really well.
