Hi everyone. Was having some discomfort in my knee in the side. Needed to go for MRI but covid broke out. Fast forward took an MRI and said advanced osteoarthritis in back of knee ,torn meniscus and bone on bone. I had shot of cortisone and went on my way seems to help - question is i would have never knew I was bone on bone with the slight discomfort i was still power walking, etc a friend of mine who had a replacement said she never heard of someone in Virtually NO discomfort having bone on bone. I say Thank G-d but I'm just curious if any of you heard of this before? Would appreciate any input on this blee
Hi sammieswife, usually the radiologist will at the end of the MRI report give a rating, such as mild, moderate or severe. Do you have a copy of the report, if not you should request one for your own records. I am going to guess the meniscus tear is something that does not require a knee scope to fix, a lot drs like to let them heal on their own depending on how bad they are. Glad to read the injection helped. What kind of a dr did you see for your knees?
I have a lengthy history of knees issues, meniscus tears, developed scar tissue that needed to be cleaned up & then a partial tear of the ACL. My last scopes here in 96, followed by having Supartz injections in both knees because of bone on bone from arthritis. I was told then my next step would be replacements, which I am not ready for. I have a small fortune tied up in my knees with so many scopes & PT over the years.
What I learned in 96 was water therapy did more for my knees than anything. I am fortunate to have a small pool & I knew what PT exercises to do in water. I also to this day will set on a noodle & do knee kicks around the pool. You are weightless in water & cannot injure anything. A lot of drs are now recommending water PT.
I have a lot of lateral tenderness & swelling but I can deal with it. I also use Voltaren topical gel on my knees. It was approved by the FDA to be made available OTC February of this year. Prior to this I had to have a script & they did not change up the formula!
Hopefully you will get a lot of mileage out of the injection.
