"I love Italian.......and so do you"
Hi N17,
I don't know what it is about doctors and vitamin supplements but I've found the response you've run into to be almost universal. Vitamins are not going to hurt you and may actually help you. Just dont' overdo the oil soluable vitamins like A, D and E. Lottsa B vitamins will help keep your metabolism working at a higher level and help you with burning those pounds, so by all means take your vitamin supplements.
Great test results btw!!

One thing I learned in nurse's training... Doctors receive almost no teaching in the diet/nutrition/vitamin area of patient care. Because that area is almost always handled by another department in the hospital they just don't need to learn it. In fact, doctors are not always the best fed persons on the planet, either.
Balancing the human diet with enough nutrition, fiber, vitamins and minerals is one of the most difficult things that moms have to learn when they start feeding a family. That is when I started to really home in on what was best for my fam. And when I was trying to get spinach and brocolli into feisty little four year olds I found chewable vitamins to be a life saver! I look at vitamins as an insurance policy. Everything is there for your body to use if it needs it. And some vitamins are absolute necessities to life! I had a baby sister born without a brain because my mom didn't get enough folic acid at a crutial time in the baby's nervous system development. We know now that a multivitamin would have saved her life and she would have been born normal.
The secret is as always... all things in moderation.
