I just saw I had an email in my junk folder. It came from Healingwell. The subject was Healingwell Summary, and it shows Since Your Last Visit #New Topics, Unread Notifications, New Users. Then it shows the most recent posts on the site and identifies them by forum group and poster.
Here’s the bad part. It shows the poster’s real name and forum name. I noticed for one of them, it showed the real name as “Real Name.” I immediately went to My Profile and edited my account info and changed the real name field to Real Name. That should never have happened.
Has anyone else received such an email?
I highly recommend changing your profile to protect your identity.

regardless of any USA state or federal privacy laws which may be breached by such disclosures by a business based in the USA, the site serves users around the globe and may ( almost certainly does) have data protection obligations based on each countries laws, regardless of where it is based.
*for instance, they may be subject to the EU/UK GDPR laws of Europe regardless of being in Virginia.
*Accidental Leaks: Under GDPR, an accidental disclosure of a name (Personal Data) is a data breach.
*Fines: The owner could face significant fines from international regulators if EU/UK citizens are affected, even for "accidental" development errors.
*Notification: They may be legally required to report the error to a Data Protection Authority within 72 hours of discovery.
To any users affected - the cat is out of the bag as far as emails that have already been sent - but
you can:
1-log on and edit your profile to remove your name information from your profile to prevent further disclosures
2-Demand a Correction: Formally email the site owner's Data Protection Officer (DPO). Demand they:
Acknowledge the breach in writing.
--Explain what caused the error.
--Detail the steps taken to stop further leaks.
3-Report to Regulators: If the owner is unresponsive, you can file a complaint with the Virginia Attorney General’s Office or an international regulator if you are based outside the US.

but i notice in other messages in the summary - something strange seems to be going on - as deep sleep's post on TUDCA was one of the messages - but it was listed as from a different user name
if you click the hyperlink it goes to a separate website address - not the usual healingwell site - and that has deep sleep's message - but again with a different username - strange ....

OK - no problem - i have removed the link to your post on the duplicated site that was highlighted in the message above
but just to be clear - it looks like maybe all registered members with an email address in their profile are getting / were getting these "Healingwell Summary" emails with the same links - so i am sorry to say that will do little to reduce exposure.
ref editing usernames etc - i can only edit / delete messages in the main forum - and that's the full extent of my moderator privileges I'm afraid. i have made other mods aware of the issue and raised it here so users can at least edit their profiles

i posted the concerns raised in this thread to the moderators forum - but received no input from the site owners - other moderators have tried to contact the site Admin directly about this and had no response either - which i find disappointing.
on the plus side it doesn't appear as though any more of these type of summary emails have been sent out ( at least i haven't received any in the last 2 weeks - but please do post below if you are still receiving them)
to anyone concerned about data breaches in the future - sadly without support from the admin - all we can do is what is within our individual power - so i can only suggest you edit your profile to remove personally identifiable information.

seems most likely its some link someone has posted somewhere in one of the forums posts that's upsetting the browsers security checks and they are flagging the whole site as malicious
but hard to know for sure .....
