Hey thanks MaryMe~that was a very good article~thank you for taking the time to investigate and put that here for us!!
My cardio Dr. happens to be my husband's Dr. And they were just waiting on that machine to come in-was 3 weeks away, when my husband needed a heart cath. He told my husband he would have been an excellent patient for it, as it seems to work better/more efficiently in people who've had no prior angiograms/or known plaque present with no previous heart disease. At least this is what I originally heard~it may have already been improved since then!
My husband's only symptom was high blood pressure and a false positive stress test. His heart cath. was negative which was wonderful!!, but would have been nice if he wouldn't have had to go through that.
Thanks again MaryMe!! Big Hugs, Teri "Because he is he and I am I."......E. V. Lucas

what about the article they mailed me about if yuo have HYPO thyroidism not HYPERthyroidism but Hypo folks and Congestive Heart failure we are not going to come out of a attack or episode of CHF that good if our thyroid is out of whack even a little bit. News to me for I have hashimotoes thyroiditis and CHF
Wow, it's always something...but we've been hearing about these for a while in the news and like all med.'s sometimes we need to choose the least offensive to our health-at times we require some of these medications, however, watching the dosages and the amount of time we take them, may make a big difference.

As I was reading tonight, I saw an article re Diuretics helping Diabetics with Blood Pressure! That's something that I could have used after my bypass due to heart failure and edema but they wouldn't give me any diuretics because they said it caused Blood Pressure to drop and mine was too low as it was...I'm surprised a bit that this is just coming out...I'm glad that it is though and I wanted to pass this along!! I'm a diabetic as well...Hugs, Teri
"Diuretics Best First-step for High BP in Diabetics"
This is an excellent article, Teri! I am going to send this to my doctor I think. This was of particular concern to me, also being diabetic: "Some significant differences in other outcomes were seen; for example, fatal or nonfatal heart disease occurred 73 percent more often among subjects with impaired fasting glucose who were on the ACE inhibitor than those taking the diuretic. Heart failure was more common among individuals with diabetes and those with normal blood glucose levels who taking the ACE inhibitor or the calcium channel blocker compared to those on the diuretic." I take lasix (frusemide), 40 mg. every day, plus an ace inhibitor, and have impaired fasting blood glucose. I'm glad you located this article!

Well, that is one stunning piece of news! I can't help but wonder if the same is true (ace inhibitor vs diuretic) for the general CHF population without diabetes too? Maybe it just hasn't been studied.
I am on both an ACE and 2 Diuretics? whoa wonder what it does to non diabetics maybe thet is why I get ornery as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when I get hungery but keep up the good work Teri.
