I have. I've also woken up during the night with chest pains. I thought I was having a heart attack. When the GERD was bad, it seemed like I could feel my heart beating all the time. It made me nervous and probably made the palpitations worse. I don't know why GERD does that though.

Yes, when my GERD is at it's worst, I get irregular heartbeats. There have been a number of posts about this in the past, so you might want to do a search.
And I can tell if my GERD is worsening, because even if I don't get really bad heartburn, I get a pain in my upper left chest.
