Heartburn/Gerd

Greetings, everyone.

I have been a heartburn sufferer for at least 30 of my 45 years, with GERD for the last 5 years at least.  I've tried more diets and supposed remedies than I can remember; some provided temporary relief, others none at all.  My doctors recommended the same tired advice:  Avoid fatty, spicy foods, stay away from tomatoes, alcohol, citrus, etc., don't lay down after eating, wear loose fitting clothes, eat a high carbohydrate, low fat diet, etc.  And, if that doesn't work, there's always the pills.  Seems they were always pushing the pills.

I have had GERD for years, and was on all kinds of different meds before I found one that works. Sometimes, i even forget to take it a day, and it still works (save $ that way). my GERD is so bad, icouldn't eat a piece or bread without reflux. Aciphex is what I have now been on for 3 and half years, and it has been like a miracle for me. you can't get it in generic, but it's been well worth it- i am reflux-free now.
Thanks, I am on this site for several reasons, but luckily, my GERD has been the problem that has been treatable, something is looking up. I haven't ever joined in on any forum until yesterday, but already, I feel better...I am not the only one dealing with crap...we all are..take care
PS, thinking of you and your lost son, I lost a sis 1 1/2 years ago...I know about losing a loved one, and I have seen my parents deal with the death of a child...hardest thing you will ever have to do, but will only make you stronger in ways that most will never know...
