hello

hey guys
today is thursday.  i had surgery tuesday.  some lymph nodes were affected, they removed some of them.  the tumor was larger than the doc thought, but he only did a lumpectomy.  i go to the surgeon tomorrow and i will find out everything.  i have not even seen him.  i didn't see him the day of surgery or since.  he talked to my family but i haven't heard anything first hand.  i will tomorrow tho.  i go to the onc monday.  (I'm picking up on the terminology real well tongue  )  i feel pretty good today, a little sore.  i also had a port put in.  i have a drainage bag also from the surgery that i will probably have for a week.  i will be off work for a week then he said i can go back.  my chemo is supposed to start in about 3 weeks.  i will let you guys know more tomorrow after i go see the doc.  i have a good attitude about this so far.  i've had my moments when i cry and ask why me, what did i do to deserve this .....but not very often.  i really enjoy talking to you guys and hearing from you.  it helps a lot.  i'll go for now.  talk to you later

Glad you are doing well. I am a 4 year survivor and remember the drain tubes. I had four with my surgery, it was around Christmas when I got them out and kept two of them and made Christmas ornaments out of them. Most expensive ornaments I have! LOL I don't mean to scare you but chemo was the hardest part for me. But you will get through it and we will all be here to help you. Keep us posted on what you find out and take it easy.

Today is a gift, that's why they call it the present!

{{{{Tamaralynn}}}}  Glad you checked in and are doing as well as you are. It's been 8 yrs and almost 9 months, and I STILL remember that darn drain. So, take it easy. It will be gone eventually. I know the road ahead may seem daunting, but you know that you are not alone. I'm sorry the surgeon sort of ignored you. Too bad he/she did not have a minute or two to see you before and/or after the operation. Good luck tomorrow. We will be in the waiting room with you. Gently hugs, Lauri

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Oh yes the drain tubes. We used to have the "queen of the drain" contest. Who had them longest. I think I had one once over six weeks. We later learned there was a problem with a little infection situation. We have also told stories of how we hid them or carried them. My favorite was a woman who came to the surgeon's office with hers lying on a pillow. No kidding, like a ring bearer carries in a wedding. I nearly cracked up at that one. My daughter used a fanny pack to hide hers. I just hid mine in baggy sweat type pants. LOL. They are not fun for sure, but are part of the whole picture post surgery. Hope yours come out quickly. You sound wonderful. Hugs MK

Somewhere, drooling while locked in a dark, dank closet, is the man who invented those dàmned drains. I hope that the time comes, and quickly, when they will have to use his invention on him. Something similar to Monsieur Guillotine and his invention.

Glad to hear that you have come through the initial surgery. We're all praying for good news, good scans and a not-so-rough walk down the treatment path.

Hugs, Jo-Ann

A good friend will bail you out of jail...
but a true friend will be sitting
next to you saying,
"Dâmn... that was fun!".

well I agree with Jo-Ann. I like the thought that he would wake up and have a drain hanging from every direction. Just the thought makes me smile. Now that would be Texas Justice. I love it. I have to tell you that drain bothered me a lot. You would think after all we went through that would be the least of it. I do not know why but when the drain was removed I felt a lot better. Hugs, Joyce
