Hey Everyone, I hope I am doing this right. I've never replied to any forum, just read them.
The reason I chose this one is because my mother has HepC and I wanted to kanow more about it. She doesn't say much, I guess because she knows it will soon take her life. sad Basiclly I just want to know as much as possible about this illness.

Hi. Thank you for repling.

Unfortunetly she has had it since the seveties. (that's what the doctors think) Also, she was an alcoholic most of her life. At least from about 19 to 51 or so.

Yes she was taking meds, but only that infaron(sp) shot, but she had to stop because it was depleting her platlets. Now only a liver transplant will work, but she may not ever have that also because of the platlets.

Please forgive my spelling, it's not my strong suit!! sad

Thanks Jennifer for you input. That would be great if there was something to help with platlets. I don't think her doctors are doing all they can to help her. They told her they wanted to wait until she got "really sick" before she was put on the donar list for a new liver. I do hope someone can add something to this that may help her situation.

No good news today. My mom said she noticed her eyes are no longer white,but yellow. I'm so scared of losing my best friend. Also she helps with my son as if he were her own so I'm aslo sared for him.
If someone can please help, give some advice that I can give her! I know there is not much that can be done, but I feel like I'm riding a bike and draging my feet to make it stop.

How are you and your mother doing?

There are a lot of things that can be done to help your mom feel better.  She can take a shot every week, Epoetin, that helps the body make more red blood cells.

It would be good for her to see a liver specialist or GI doctor for some tests and help.
