Hi y'all.... new here and son with diabetes

My son, Dylan, was diagnosed with diabetes last summer.  (at age 4).

It seems strange to me, since I know of no one in our families that had this.  (I have something like 90 cousins, too!).

My wife's family was smaller, but don't know of any of her's with this, either.

He's doing good, but the "honeymoon" just ended, I think.   His BG has gotten harder to control lately, and his insulin doses are going up.   We had him in a clinical trial for "interferon" which is expected to lengthen the honeymoon, but he was evidently in the "control group".   (That is a sucky thing, to have a "control group" when a drug has already proven to be promising.... don't they already have enough data on how diabetes progresses????). :(

He's on a combination of "H" and "N", and handling it like a trooper.

Oh yeah.... and "Cigna" is a crappy health coverage option my company has chosen to go with!

Hope you all are doing well.

God bless,

dano
Dano,

I never did like the idea of control groups. Getting everyones hopes up and then letting half of them down. It's good to hear that your son is handling his insulin treatments well. It sounds like you are working on getting your son into the habit of taking care of himself. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
