HW Member Canada Mark passed away

I just heard that one of the members passed. His sister posted today on facebook but I don’t know the details of Mark’s passing. He had IBD for a long time and last time I talked with him, he was in remission on entvyio and very into GI mapping. He was an avid race car driver and spent a lot of hours on the tracks around the US. During my last hospital stay, he sent me a giant stuffed animal to my room which I still have in my bedroom. I met him on here back in 2012 or so. Just wanted to mention it in case anyone else remembers Canada Mark. May he rest in peace🙏🏻

Ooohhhh...really sad to hear 😞 He shared a lot of varied information. It's awesome you and Mike got to know him outside of HW.

Sorry to hear this. Thanks, for letting us know.

Very sad; thanks for letting us know, BG. So touching about his gift to you! We had a very nice guy in Missouri posting here a couple summers ago; I think he went by the signature LJones89 or something like that. He had major trouble getting DXed/treated because only 1 gastro practiced for a radius of 200 miles in his part of the state! He got shuttled to ERs and suffered a lot of pain, then he wrote that there was a chance of malignancy in his case. That was the last time he posted, and he had mentioned having concerns for his young family. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC)
Oh no, how sad to read this! I remember Canada Mark. I believe he was from the Kitchener-Waterloo area, my old stomping grounds.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. I always enjoyed his posts. In fact, I was thinking about him not that long ago since he hadn't seemed to post in a long while. If you communicate to his sister, please let her know that those of us here in HW remember him fondly.

His sister doesn’t accept messages on facebook which is unfortunate because I would like to send her a message with a link to this post so she could read it. I only found out that he passed away because he was tagged in a memorial post. His memorial is on April 6. Not sure if I should send her a friend request or if that is weird…
He had a lot of siblings (more than 5 but less than 10). He lived ten min from Lake Ontario and loved the summer. He said he would spend a lot of summers in the country by the water. I am not sure what he passed from but that is the sad part about online friendships. You may never know. He was always so nice though and I regret not meeting him. I remember he drove by my house when he was traveling here and I was very sick. I told him I was too sick to meet him and wish I had just had him over even if it was meeting him from the bathroom. I just felt awkward meeting an online friend at such a terrible time. I knew he would have understood though.

BG, if you know his last name you could search for an obituary.

So sad, if you find out where his memorial is, I live not far from where he lived and would consider going. I'm just not sure what border crossings are like these days.

It’s Sunday April 6th at Evo Kitchen, 31 Water Street, South, Cambridge Ontario from 1-4 pm. I wanted to go as well but was just in the hospital over the weekend (tremfya crap) and can’t travel in my current state of health. I haven’t been to Canada since I was a child but imagine the tensions are very heightened there right now about the US. If you do go, let us know!

Oh my, so sorry to hear of his passing, and that's far too young! Tip of the hat to Canada Mark, definitely up there as one of the most knowledgeable and helpful posters over the decades here. Many benefiting from his help. Awesome if some from here know him well enough and are able to attend.
