I'm only 13 years old but I've had a headache for almost if not all my life. When was about three I said "I have a headache" to my parents. I've tried tylenol and dozens of antibiotics but nothing seems to work. I've also had surgery twice. But after that i get another sinusitis infection again. Could anything work possibly? My parents and I have looked and looked and looked for info for anything that could help. What can help?? For I R Patrick =\

I am a reject of sinus surgery. It ruined me. As far as what to take to help with sinusitis, I don't know. My sinuses have been checked out and are OK. Since the surgery I have had vision problems and headaches. I wish I could help you. Someone will come along soon.

According to all material I have read it states that most people who thing they have "sinus" headaches they actually have migraines.
I am also a "sinus surgery reject" lol...I had a cyst removed from my right maxillary sinus cavity and it has returned, I have decided not to have it removed this time because it a) did not help and b) apparently will come back in a relatively short amount of time...
My suggestions would be to take medications to keep the infections away or to a minimum...and AVOID OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS which will without a doubt enduce rebound headaches...if you do not know what those are, please find the post called rebound headaches or I will be glad to explain in detail!!!

Oh, another note...I had sinus infections and "sinus" headaches for 9 months straight before we found the cyst...it was removed, they promptly returned if they ever even went away...
Finally got rid of the infections, but I still have them several times a year although they are not constant like they were...
I eventaually came to the conclusion that the headaches were migraines and a disease instead of "sinus" headaches and now they are treated with preventative medications daily, and abortives/rescue medications as needed and I live a much more productive live.
See a doctor and find out what the bottom line is. A CORRECT diagnosis is first step and knowledge is your best line of defense!

I am a physician and agree with Sara that the most important thing for you to do is establish the right diagnosis. If you have not yet been seen by a neurologist, have your parents take you to one, because anyone with chronic headaches should have a thorough neurological examination. Most people with chronic sinus headaches turn out to have migraines. You may have something different, but you will never know unless you see a neurologist. Good luck to you! I also am always told I have sinus problems. I also have had surgery with no relief. Fortunately my problems didn't start until my eary 20's. I was at the emergency room last night and had a doctor say that I have problems in my neck that bring on symptoms of sinus headaches. He said it is a rare disorder, but usually misdiagnosed as sinus related. I am going to a new doctor today. He is a DO not an MD. This is also what the emergencyroom doctor told me to do. He said DO's work on muscles and bones. I will let you know what I find out this afternoon.
