45mg is the highest dose that is made. I read somewhere that people are on 60mg or 90mg of this antidepressant, and was wondering if anyone was taking this amount and if it helping. Right now I am on 45mg but am considering 60mg.

I tried Remeron once and I didn't do so well on it for it made me very sedated. I did want to say that I have a friend that takes it and is on 60 mg at bedtime. He has been taking this dose for about 2 years now and doing very well.

I take 45 mg at night and it has helped me a lot. I've been on it for almost 3 years.
Hi Els and Bluemeanies, thanks for your quick responses. I just went from 30mg to 45mg but was saddened that the 15mg and the 30mg did not last very long (only a few short months). I am hoping that the 45mg will last a bit longer. Els, do you know if your friend takes a 45mg tablet and then a 15mg tablet? I don't know if Remeron makes a 60mg tablet..just curious. Bluemeanies, I am feeling better knowing that someone has been on the 45mg for three years..that is a long time for an antidepressant! I have heard of stories where antidepressants poop out rather quickly. I am hoping that won't be the case..because it took so long for me to find something that works. I tried all the SSRI's and had such bad side effects..and was very lucky to be prescribed Remeron while hospitalized..it gave me no side effects (except some weight gain and increased hunger)....very good antidepressant!
Hi Rianna, Yes, he take a 45mg tab and 15 mg tab at the same time. He has been at this dose for two years and hasn't had a problem as yet (knocking on wood)lol. Sometimes the antidepressants do stop being as effective but that mostly depends on the person and body chemistry over the amount of time you take it. I had that with Zoloft on my third time around on it after four years so it could be awhile.
