I've had a kind of chafing rash on the corner of my nose/cheek and on the side of my face by my mouth for about a month. It hasn't gone away, and now they are red patches that chafe sometimes. It looks terrible, but of course, my coworker said she didn't notice it until I mentioned it (isn't that always the case....we think we're such centers of attention sometimes). Called the PCP and asked for a cream over the phone. Figured he's perscribe or recommend some first-line thing that I could try without having to come in and see him. No go. Looks like I gotta get it checked out. It doesn't look like basal, I've had that. Of course My dear mother mentioned that first thing when I mentioned the rash. She's an alarmist, but gotta admit, it got me going.
I hate worrying about nothing. every little ache, rash what have you!!!!!! could be cancer, could be cancer...The gift that keep on annoying!

It sounds like exema, I get it during the winter time and it starts out like a dry patch and then gets red and dry. I just use hydrocortisone cream and it helps. I get it on my arms face and neck. Try that and see if it works for you.
Hugs:)

Welcome to life after cancer. There is no longer such a thing as "normal" aches and pains. They could all be "something." Only once have I really panicked, and that was when I started having spells of blurred vision, dizziness, and nausea. Turned out to be a normal aging thing that most people hardly notice, but because I'm what they call a "vision perfectionist," it really threw me for a loop. I was on the phone to the onc pronto, and she had me in radiology almost as fast.
When that nagging "what if it is..." pops up, just try to remind yourself of MK's words of wisdom... "wait until you know you have something to worry about."
Good luck with the skin thing.

How about psoriasis? I never had it before and now get patches of it. Of course, it could be my advanced age as well as one of those post cancer "things" that come along. There are several OTC creams and gels that say psoriasis on them and they all seem to work pretty well. Can't hurt to try, anyhow. Hugs MK
