Hello everyone just curious , in the winter, I had major depression and the blues. Well now that it's summer I thought it might change my mood a little? I have been trying to keep myself busy; taking my daughter for walks ; working in the yard. Any suggestion? I am off school till June 20. I can't wait till start , I would rather be stressed out from school than constantly have my mind wandering. Does that make any sense? Is there anyone that is a fitness or nutrition buff? I am diabetic and need to lose a few lbs. , and was wondering how to start out? Thanks for letting me ramble. When I first started to write I wanted to cry . Guess I feel a little bettter !Is everyone still out there?
Hi, Kittycat!
I haven't been here for a few days - I am a fitness buff! Was a personal trainer years ago - You're type I or II diabetic? Do you follow your dietary guidelines? Is your sugar under control? How old are you? Tell me what you want to accomplish and I will try to help!
And yes, typically sunny weather lifts our moods, but if you're somewhat bored, you will still have more moodiness. I have to deal with that, too.

Hey pyschnurse, I am type II diabetic. I am 27 yrs. old. I had gestational diabetes and I still have it. I never ever had it before. This happened to my aunt. I try to follow my diet, but I can't cook very well. I don't know alot of recipes and am extremely picky. Imagine that. LOL I already lost 30lbs, since my daughter was born. She's 3 now. I am actually smaller then prepregnancy weight, however still 20lbs overweight. I took a weight training class at college for 3 mo. last yr. from Sept. to Dec. and lost 2% body fat. I haven't done much since then. I am so used to my 21 yr. old figure, at 5'6 and 115. Not 5'6 and 145. I just don't know where to start and how to stick with it?????????????????? Much help would be appreciated. I really lack in the "what to buy at the store" department?

First, before you do ANYTHING you must learn how to eat, not just what to eat! This site explains the number of points each food item has, and how much of it to eat. You will lose weight on this diet, I guarantee it. Everyone should follow this diet, anyway. It will also give you ideas on what to buy at the store. Please take the time to learn this - it's crucial to your health and control of the DM II.
Weight training will not really help you lose weight, it doesn't burn much fat. It is for strengthening and increasing lean muscle mass. (Muscle does burn a little more fat at rest, but not enough to cause weight loss.) You have to do aerobic activity at least 30-30 minutes 4-5 times per week. If you think you don't have time, you DO. Otherwise we wouldn;t have TVs and computers.
What is your current fitness level and what if any excercise do you do and how often?
