Hello. My name is Chye and this is my first post here. I am most appreciative for all comments offered.
2 months ago, I started having food stuck on my throat after almost every meal. Sometimes, it was merely a sensation but often time, it was really food stuck there.
I was very worried about it and so had an EGD done 2 weeks ago. The GI doctor found nothing abnormal except for a stomach infection which I am presently taking medication for it. I was also told I had a mild GERD and that my esophagus was narrow. He dilated it with a balloon during the EGD.
However, the same problem (food stuck) remains. I have no problem eating (or swallowing) but food particles are always stuck in my throat after the last mouthful. If I am lucky, I am able to spit them out. Otherwise, they will remain there for a few days.
Other symptoms include sore throat and slight acid reflux. I do not have heartburn.
My question. Am I suffering from GERD?

What was the mild stomach infection that he found? If you have GERD, it probably left some damage in your esophagus-this can be the same as heartburn I believe.
Your symptoms sound like GERD to me but I am not a dr-they are the only ones that can tell you for sure. What meds are you on?

Hi Jennifer, my GI doctor prescribed me with Prilosec but only to be taken after the antibiotic course for my stomach infection (2 weeks).
I had a follow-up with the doctor last week but that would be the last time I am seeing him. He didn't seem interested in my problem and was very rushing in the 3 consultations I had with him.
I guess I will have to take the Prilosec as prescribed and then decide on the course of action thereafter.

Hi Nancy, the stomach infection is H.Pylori and I am taking PrevPac for it. After 2 weeks, Prilosec.
