My 70 year old, very active wife fell backwards onto concrete a week ago while operating a mower ! She has been diagnosed with a compression fracture in L4 and L2 vertebrae and can barely stand without pain shooting down her right leg She is now under the care of physical therapists and has good days and bad days. She does have some osteoporosis therefore doctors suggested Kyphoplasty to get her moving again, and back to her gym routine, so she wont lose muscle mass, endure weight gains and possible blood clots from being sedentary due to pain. I watched the many videos on the subject , however was wondering if anyone had personal experiences with such treatment and its recovery. So if anyone out can add something pro or con about this, your response will be greatly appreciated.

I know very little about this procedure other than a person must meet a certain criteria to be a candidate. Good luck to your wife, this sounds like a good viable option for her.

My husband had kyphoplasty twice. He had compression fractures from lifting a heavy object because of pretty severe osteoporosis. It worked great for him, got him up and moving. He was in terrible pain from the fractures and this was the only way he was going to be able to recover. It's just some big injections of bone cement, not a major surgery.
My mother also had compression fracture due to lifting something. This procedure was super easy and she made a full recovery from it. It was done within 2 days of fracture. She was 75 at the time. I would not hesitate to do this if it were me. Hope this helps.
