Lamictal

Hi everyone,
I am still getting used to this site so bear with me. I am not so computer literate as the rest of you. I am on Lamictal and am going from the 50 mg. dosage to the 100 mg dosage on Mon. It seems that whenever I get to the end of the stepped up dosage all my symptoms come back. I have difficulty finding words, writing, numbness in my face and a host of other minor issues. Still it is very frustrating. Is this normal?  I am still having trouble with  memory too. Will this get better?
 
I hope to get some feedback that will help my  deal with all this stuff. My 7 year old daughter still can't understand that Mommy can't pick her up at school. I have 2 more months before I can drive. Matbe...

Lynn, can you talk to the neuro to see if you can go slower titrating up? It is really tough to try and function with the word finding is so difficult. I have that with my migraines and it can be tough. Mine is not all the time...

Hang in there!! I would talk to the neuro. it can be normal to have to adjust. COuld be you need to try and go up slower to ease this.

Hello Lynn,

My own experiences of Lamictal weren't good, I'm afraid. They had me on it for about 2 years, gradually increasing the dosages. I still kept getting siezures, including the problems with words that you mentioned. Finally they put me on Keppra - and that doesn't seem much better either. Different people seem to react differently to the various drugs and there seems to be a lot of experimentation till you find the right one. Don't worry though, most people get there in the end.
