Just about a year ago researchers at Harvard discovered the "master switch" for insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.  The following link will let you read about their results.

This is the first time I have heard the term "Trigger" used with type 2. While it might only be interesting to those of us that have 'pulled that trigger', so to speak, it shoud speak loudly to pre-diabetics who are overweight and are on the way. I know researchers say that pre-diabetes does not automatically progress to type 2, but the person themselves are the main control to that happening. With a known trigger that we the patient can control should be "word to the wise" for those who are on the way to becomming type 2.

Dear Warren,
A very interesting article on The effect of salsalate on diabetes,a low grade inflammatory process.Should'nt we wait till they come out with a bigger trial as they are planning to do?They are calling for volunteers.

I just deleted your less than polite posts to each other. Henceforth I would like to see more respect for other's opinions and less criticism on this forum. We all have a disease that we are not too happy about. Opinions on control and treatment differ. iam glad you did that.Salsalate ,the drug the Harvard researchers are focussing on has more side-effects than plain aspirin.
Till date,only phase one trials are done(on mice).Iam not surprised that only twenty volunteers have been tested considering the side-effect profile of salsalate and the results are a real breakthrough for overweight type 2 diabetics.

Actually, my findings are totally different than yours. I found that information stating salsalate does not cause thining of the blood and still works as an anti-inflamitory so it may be ideal for reducing inflamation in diabetics without causing blood leakages in the eyes or kidneys. I hope they find out that it will help us.

My father in law died of a heart attack after a rash completely covered his body. He was type 2, going blind and having a heck of a time with his diabetes. Shortly after his death the information linking inflamation in the body to heart attacks was published and now I'm finding info linking inflamation and diabetes. Seems like we're darned if we do and we're darned if we don't. Dumb problems are around every corner! mad (Jeannie walks away grumbling about the pokey test results and wishing a cure was imminent...)

I respect your research but I believe that you missed my point. That's ok. We are both entitled to our opinions and lengthy dissertations on glomular filtration rates is not necessary. If I understand you correctly you believe that aspirin may be helpful in fighting diabetes... That's what I'm beginning to believe as well. (All medical publication quotes aside! tongue)
