I was done prostectomy and radiation and hormone therapy in Feb. 2015 with the psa was 47. SBRT of the lung metastasis in 2023. Started from 2025, PSA started to going up again. Now, the PSA is 1.2. Pmsa pet scan in April 2026 found nothing. I did another pmsa pet recently and waitng report. What should I do if pmsa could not find the metastasis?
Hello - You probably should wait for results before planning next steps IHMO.
It is not uncommon for PSMA not to show anything, sometimes PCa does not exhibit PSMA to detect yet does generate PSA. MY guess is oncologist? will continue to monitor PSA and look into other scans and/tracers if PSMA continues to be negative. One step at a time.
Thank you very much Mumbo for your advice. Tomorrow, I will see my oncologist and I will know the result. If pmsa finds a few metastasis, it is relatively simple and local radiation might be the choice. if no metatasis find, as my psa is high now. my oncologist may want me to start to use hormone therapy to block the further multiple micro metastasis. I am not sure if I should wait or start the treatment.
Don’t know the answer to that. MO’s tend to favor chemistry but HT is typically not a cure for anything. However, it can stop growth and extend life until the cancer adapts to it. I don’t consider PSA of 1.2 real high for scanning purposes so waiting may make sense. Trying different scans or tracers makes sense to me bu what do I know?
My journey almost the same. My PSA >0.05. I take those 4 horse pills everyday and get a shot every six months.
