Hi ladies,does anyone know if the stitches need to be removed from masectomy or do they dissolve.I have had them for three weeks now.Will they be fading soon. love Tammy(possitive)
Hi Tammy, I know with mine they removed the staples but the stitches dissolved. Hope you are doing fine sweetie.

I would suggest that you call your surgeon and ask him what is supposed to happen with the stitches. He should have told you that before you left the hospital, but maybe he just forgot.

Usually black stitches are silk and must be removed. Those that are not black may be disolvable stitches. I have never had clamps. There are so many new posts this one got shoved on the second page. Hope it helps answer your question. As I recall my mastectomy stitches were there for awhile, too. Please let us know what happens. You should still be seeing the surgeon for post op visits. Hugs MK
