Hi, my 41 year old husband was diagnosed with PD two years ago. He was given Mirapex, and we took him off it this year when we discovered some very bad things that were going on. My husband was not gambling like you may have heard about the med on television, but his behavior was obsessive compulsive and he was spending money like it was water, and lying about it. It caused some major problems. His mood had been crazy since the meds too, but since he's been off, I don't see much change in that. He is not a very happy person, and he used to be the kind of guy you could run over with a car, and he would apologize for being in your way. Now the littlest thing sets him off on a verbal rampage that is quite upsetting. Some have told me the mood swings are common with PD, and some tell me it has nothing to do with it. Some blamed it on the meds, but he has been off Mirapex since January. Anyone else having the same problems, or have experiences with PD mood swings? Have any of you had problems with Mirapex?

Welcome to Healing Well.I have been on mirapex since it came on the market many moons ago.I wonder if this medication doesn't affect everyone differently.I feel that mirapex has enabled me to fight PD back,and along with stalevo has enabled me to stay somewhat active.I have talked to many on mirapex,and most have a hate love relationship with this drug.often those that have problems with mirapex switch to requip as a substitute.All trial and error with most with PD .takes time to fine tune the meds and dosage that works for you.Wish you and your husband the best.Ed Ps an important thought be ever vigilant for depression which statistics say occurs in 40 % of those with PD .Their are extremly effective meds for this.I'm sure you are keeping your husbands neuro informed of changes.

Hello Everybody,regards mirapex i am now on this med.i wasput on a six week course starting with a minute strengh iwas fine up to 4th week then 5th week was terrible spent 2 days in bed , went back to 4th week and it is great,the strengh i am taking is 180 micrograms 2 tablets 3 times daily.nobody can guess now to look at me that i have pd but i can't stop talking ,family think it's realy funny,but at least it's sensible talk.maybe it was the slow aproach to the meds
but it has worked for me,i also take madapar cr and sinamet plus .I am now a differant person and very grateful.good luck to all who try it you never know what your own response will be.
