I am hoping Teri will read this and can tell me if there is a difference. You know the doc said I had Mitral Regurgitation and when I have done research on Mitral Diseases it shows up in a seperate catagory from MVP. Someone told me they are the same but I didn't understand why the doc wouldn't say MVP which seems it can be a pretty innocent condition.
Also, the Doc said between 1-5 I am at a 3....will this get worse? Is it an automatic?
I am waiting now for the Holter Monitor results. As always, thanks for your helpful knowledge.

MVP (mitral valve prolapse) is actually benign in most people, and they may never even realize they have it or need any treatment for it.
However, it can progress to the point where regurgitation begins and as it gets more severe and that would make treatment necessary.
I've never had MVP, however I have Mitral Valve Regurgitation MVR. Mine was caused by the flaps of the valve becoming stenosed from calcification (plaque).
I was diagnosed many years ago and my Dr.'s keep an eye on it. Of course, I would suppose that progression is always ongoing, however, no one knows from one person to the next how fast this is occurring. Though symptoms will definitely give you an idea. Are you symptomatic?
Please let me know what the Holter Monitor reveals and what the course of action will be. I'm not familiar with the scale, so I can't answer that.

Hi Teri, thank you for your concern. After reading many of the posts here I feel a little guilty having any concerns about myself. I think that this "whatever it is that I have" is nothing compared to what some others have. I still have all of the questions and won't be seeing the Dr for 3 more weeks. The only thing I know for sure is that he will be doing another echo in 6 months. I don't want to be a whiner but I am noticing problems running out of breath before I finish a sentance....and to top it off I have a pretty nasty sprained ankle and am to be nonweight bearing for 7-10 days. UGH!
I will be 43 on Monday and I feel like I am falling apart...it all started with bi-focals at 40!!!

You're a young filly, Sharain! lol I'm 53 and you're right, I thought I was pretty darn young until I was 42 and a Dr. told me I was getting older!! ROFL Then I needed glasses, too.
