I am to have a lumpectomy on the 10th of this month. It's so small that the surgeon can't feel it, so I have to go to the ultrasound area first and have a needle put in there just so he knows where to cut. You can't feel it when I am lying down. Only when I am standing or sitting up, and I don't think I want to do a surgery that way!
I do not like this surgeon. He is very unfriendly and bossy. And you know me. I am in control Mister, not you! He was all like * I don't even feel it....maybe we should wait* I said * No, I don't think so. It's coming out wether you do it or not* He also said I would have to do radiation. And I said no again. My Onc and I have discussed this. If it were to come back again I could radiate then. Why do it now? OOO, it may spread. HELLO, it already has. Get caught up here Doc! It's stage one for goodnessake. Take it out. So after he talked to my Onc he came in and said *Ok, we are taking it out.* DUH. Poor Dh had to listen to me go off when he left the room! LOL B/c I did not want him to do it but I also didn't want to go all the way to Indianapolis to see my breast surgeon. But now that I am typing this, I may do just that. Maybe I will call down there. But Dr. Steele says he reccommends the surgeon here. He is a very good surgeon, but I just don't like him. He knows I won't go to that first guy that said it didn't look like cancer when he took out the tumor!
He agreed that was stupid of him to say.
I do have a concert to go to the next day. But I should be fine. The surgery is at 10am and the concert isn't until like 7:30pm the next night. I am going to see Van Halen again. DH bought tickets for the Ft. Wayne show. ( about an hour and a half north of here.) He bought 4 and didn't even have people lined up to go. So now Katie is going and one of our concert going friends that we only see at concerts! This time I will be able to stand during the show. Last time I was half dead and sat most of the time. But that was when I on that crappy chemo. GGGRRR.
I hope everyone is doing well. Take care.

Oh, Shelley, I'm sorry you have to deal with all this. At least you will have it out sooner rather than later. Don' t you overdo it rockin' out to Van Halen!

Hi Shelley...some Dr are such idiots, especially Surgeons. Isnt it amazing how we have learned to be our own best medical advocates. It sounds like you have a good plan of attack....I will be with you on the 10th.
Have a wonderful time at the Van Halen concert...sounds like fun !

Hey girl! I, too, will be with you on the 10th. Glad you stood up to that surgeon. I really hate when they get "that" attitude. Hang in there.
And ROCK ON at that VanHalen concert--I am sure you will have a great time!

I am so impressed. Shelley you are really doing a great job of taking control. Wish I could have seen that Drs. face when you told him what was going to be done. I just love it. Love ya. Talk later. Joyce

Hi honey- I'll be there on the 10th too.....tell the doc to move on over and make room for us all! Go with your gut as far as doctors and opinions. A good surgeon is crucial, but bedside manner is very important too. We need the total package.
I heard VH is done touring at the end of the year...said that Hagar is sick of Eddie's drinking problems. On the radio, they said this could be the last tour...so enjoy every moment!

Seriously Shell, I will be with you heart and soul. I am so sorry that you have to be going thru all of this.
You continue to be your own advocate, if YOU don't stick up for YOU, no one will.
God Bless you dear one.

Hey Shells, you rock!!!! Van Halen hasn't got a thing on you, girl. I am so proud of the way you took charge. Sometimes surgeons that can handle knives can't handle their attitudes, too well. Some of them can be the most self rightoeous sons of a guns you ever saw in a surgical suite, but they do know their business. Maybe with more patients like you they would learn their attitude is not acceptable. LOL. Go for it. I have lots of faith in you. Hugs MK
