My father has had Parkinson's Disease for at least five years. He is now living in a nursing home. He takes Sinemet, but he cannot walk by himself, is very slow and stiff. I am trying to find out whether he can do better.
I am interested in hearing about your experience with medications--both those that have worked and those that have not.
Sorry to hear about your father.I have had pd for 7 years that I know of.I am a 60 yr old male,and still fortunately able to work
Everyone is different with this disease,and although it progresses in all ;it does so at different rates.medications also differ with all.With some people getting good response with one med but not another.I'm currently on stalevo(comtan,sinemet)and mirapex.Often as this disease progresses meds must be increased,or changed.Hopefully your father is seeing a good neurologist,and is staying on top of the meds.You did not mention how old your father was?Wishing you and your father the best.Ed
