I take 90 mg of Cymbalta every night for depression and anxiety. My doctor recently prescribed Provigil to me for "motivation during the day"..He also gave me sleeping pills so that I would sleep through the entire night(Ambien 12.5 mg), but I do not take them because they knock me out, and there is no hope of waking up on time in the morning. I also tried reducing the dosage of the sleeping pills, and I felt absolutely nothing, and I still could not sleep. After taking Provigil for about 4-5 weeks, I have begun to have extremely vivid dreams. I used to have nightmares when taking just Cymbalta, but now those dreams have changed since Provigil has begun to run its course. I wake up seriously believing that the things that occured in my dreams are real. I have episodes of dreams, probably more than 10-15 a night. I have been taking Provigil at night, and since I have recently researched the medicine further, it seems as if the proper way to take it is in the morning...is this true?? This could be a possiblity as to why I am having such difficulty in having a regular nights sleep. I am tired all day, and at any point of the day I could fall right asleep-no problem..does anyone suggest anything else for this same problem I have?? The depression side is a lot better, Cymbalta has really pulled through. I do have crazy mood swings though, usually when I skip a day of meds. I just want to feel on the inside how others look on the outside: normal. I can't get through a semester's college without failing..I have trouble staying focused at work..sleep is my #1 hobby. Please help.
Hi tiredashton, Oh my!! I used to be on Provigil for Multiple Sclerosis fatigue for a few years. It is a stimulant and should be taken in the morning not at night. Did your doctor tell you to take it at night? No wonder your having so many problems. I don't know much about Cymbalta but if you take it at night and your Provigil in the AM you should be okay with this. Then if you have trouble sleeping take a small dose of Ambien but you have to take it early where you know your going to get at least 8 hours of sleep or else your going to drag the next day. I hope this helps. Welcome to Healing Well forum...we are glad to have you...
Thank you for replying! Well, I'm not quite sure what my doctor told me..I am sure he probably told me to take it in the morning..but I can't remember much these days..haha! I have been doing this ever since I have been taking it (a few weeks) and I feel totally weird..like this isn't my body. Hopefully that will solve everything..hopefully..
I truly hope it helps things for you....please do keep us updated and feel free to post anytime...we look forward to hearing more from you....
