New Medication approved - Orencia

Hello All,
It looks like there is a new medicine for RA. Here's the website: www.orencia.com
Not sure if any of you have heard about it or not.

Zippy

Sacroiliacitis dx in May 04' - Syptoms for 10 yrs prior
Psoriasis - Life Long

Thank you, Zippy. I will look into it. So far my doctor has prescribed methrotrexate, which I have been afraid to take because of all the possible side effects.
so i'm wondering if this would be the NEXT injectable if Enbrel and Humira fails for people with RA?  looking forward to hearing more about it.  at least researchers and scientists are coming out with more and more options!  future look bright.  hopefully in the years to come people will not have to suffer as much.  wouldn't that be wonderful.
here's to a better tomorrow!

This looks very interesting.  However, I wonder what the advantage of Orencia would be over any of the other TNF-inhibitors?  It seems to be an infusion every 4 weeks!  Remicade is every 6-12 weeks (8 weeks on average).  So, you'd have to go in for an IV infusion fairly often.  I guess, though, that if it works, and nothing else does, than it is a wonderful drug.
