New to the group and worried

Diseases & Conditions Migraine Headache

I've had migraines for years now and I've had every test done possible.  The only thing they can come up with is that they are enviromental.  Any change in weather, certain smells, etc., triggers them.  Stress is also a big factor and right now I'm under a lot of stress.  I've had a migraine for the past couple of days and last night my eye started twitching.  It has never done that before and it's freaking me out.  It's not a constant thing it will just start to twitch and it looks sleepy.  The weird part is my migraine is where it always is on the right side of my head but it's my left eye that's twitching.  Is this something to be concerned with.

welcome to the boards lyric.  i suffer from migraines as well.  i would definatly tell the doc about it.  Believe me, i am not a dr, so this is only a suggestion of what it may be.  (the migraines) may be affecting another part of your brain, stimulating nerves where it hasn't before.  JUST A SUGGESTION.  like i said, i would ck with your dr....there are some meds out there that may be able to help you.

Just my two cents....

My migraines are on the right side 99% of the time and I have a twitch that presents on my left side of my face between my cheek and upper lip. I don't know that it has anything to do with what side your headache is on....

I have read so much literature on migraine disease and not seen anything on it. I think it may have something to do with the nerves it affects in the brain. Can't swear to it though. I honestly think mine is related to medication and less to migraine itself.

I would still mention it to your doctor, mine said that it was nothing to worry about.

Hello Lyric,

It's always a good idea to check any changes with your doctor. Having said that I get a twitch on my left eye, regardless of the side of my migraine and it is generally related to stress and medication. It feels weird but is nothing more than that. I get it without my migraines as well.

my right eye twitched for almost 4 months and I thought it was from the headaches, but it's not, just a nerve, my GP and Eye Doctor told me that it's nothing to worry about.

Usually when the eye twitches it is due to a vitamin B6 defficiency.
As well as lack of sleep.
You are right about one thing.  Smells are an enormous trigger.
I get set off by perfumes and cologn and strong hair products and even candles.
You need to be very careful about that one.
You might want to just swear off perfumes and rid your house and environment (as much as you can) of smells.
Nothing is worth a migraine.
Are you currently taking any prescriptions for your migraines?
