Thank you for the welcome. I have really met some sweet people here. I am also a member of the MS forum.
I do have a cardiologist, but I have never seen him....when I was having the palpations etc and went to the ER, they asked
me who I wanted to use, so I chose the one that has always seen my husband and even when I had to wear the halter monitor,
I never saw him, I just called and spoke with his nurse to get the results. I kinda thought that it was strange that he didn't wanna
do further tests, but then I thought that maybe I was over reacting. I have done some searchings on MVP and from what I am
understanding, you can have TIA's (mini strokes) soooo between being more tired and strokes, I think I would choose the tirdness
anyday.
I am from Corinth...ever been here?
Hugs & Thanks,
Leonda

LOL you liked me so well you had to follow me huh...justa joking.
Geez buddy you have had your share of struggles, bless your heart. You and your Mom will
be in my thoughts and prayers. I can't even to imagine what I would feel like in your shoes, my
Mom as always been the healthy one, I am the one that is falling apart.
I did some searches lastnight and I find it hard to believe that he didn't want to do some more
tests on me, nor did he want me to come in for a consultation, his nurse just told me to watch my caffeine
intake.
I guess I will either call his office and make a appointment to see him or I may make a appointment with another
cardiologist that I know 2nd opinions can' hurt huh)

Hi Leonda,
I would defiantly get in to see a cardiologist. And you are right, a second opinion is always a wise choice that way you have someone who has back up the first diagnosis and treatment course. I feel for you. A physician should not leave you hanging like that. My Cardiologist's nurse works me into his schedule at a minutes notice without any problem. I think it would just go to show of the kind of physician and his attitude towards his patients. Has your husband ever had any problems with this cardiologist? Maybe see if there is another one in the their group that you could switch to and review your record.
As for my mom she has been over weight pretty much all of her life. She has Mitrovalve Prolapse and has to have 4 valves replaced. Always had chest pain the doctors said that she had to lose weight before they could do the surgery. So she had gastric bypass in April of 2004 and now she is weighing around 150 pounds. She jogs everyday and feels great. She hardly ever has chest pain, unless she is under heavy stress. I guess this is why she is putting off having the surgery.
take care

Was the diagnosis made by echocardiogram? If so, take a copy of the study (not just the report) to another cardiologist and have him look at the study -- if it was just made by clinical exam, then get an echo! If you do have MVP, often in women it has a more benign course than in men, but would need to be followed by serial echocardiograms to ensure there is no worsening of regurgitation.
Good luck.
