I am 44 yrs old and have a long history with Social Anxiety Disorder...Every med I have tried has helped with the anxiety, however.....Nothing I take helps the depression...I have always been full of life and emotional and get excited about things but now everything is gray....meds or not...Im not enjoying the beach, my great job,my relationship with God etc....I have been on every med..including, Paxil, Effexor,Lexapro,every benzo,Gabitril, Nardil, Buspar, Wellbutrin, and many others including tricyclics that I dont remember...the only drug that really helped was Nardil, but the side effects were too much...weight gain was horrible...I am an in shape guy and I cant deal with the weight gain...I am now on Cymbalta and Ive heard thet this breaks through some "treatment resistant" people like me...Has anybody else been classified "treatment resistant" and found something that helped?...My next move is probably Parnate, but I dont look forward to another MAOI...I just want to feel normal again....Thanks for listening...In Christ, John

Geee you have it rough friend. Kudos for keeping at it! I wonder if you need a combination of drugs. I sure couldn't tell you what that would be but, for instance I take lexapro as an anti-d, and it works very well, but I have trouble sleeping. So I also that amitriptilyne (which is another type of anti-d) to help me sleep at night and it has really been working well for me.
