I have just started Lantus, and I am type 2 diabetic. I have noticed if I sleep in during the morning I will get higher numbers then if I get up around 7 am.
Is this normal or is there an issue with my insulin that I need to see the Doctor about. As I am still adjusting my insulin at this time. And my Doctor mentioned that I might be insulin resitant which might need a med change.

Hi Jingles. When are you taking your lantus? Do you take it once or twice a day? If you take it once day at breakfast, it could mean its running out when you sleep in, or that you've gone low through the night and rebounded back up. If you take it once a day at night, you might not be taking enough. It's hard to say without knowing when you take it. Hope this helps.
Taaaa DAAAAAAAAAA! My doc did a med change on me... I'm on Lantus 10 units at bed time but she increased my metformin because I'm insulin resistant and she wanted to see my am. sugars below 120. This morning I got a 121! That's the best am. reading I've ever had since I started testing over 10 years ago. Life is good! My readings are getting better and I'm losing weight! Hurray for me! See if this is what your doc was talking about Jingles, ok?

I take 25 units of lantus in the am and 25 units in the pm. i never have a problem with high readings. Except maybe if i get a bad batch of lantus which happened to me once.
Also, you cannot use the same needle i use with my humalog when using lantus. It is possible to have a bad bottle of lantus.
