To get right to the point, one of my brothers (56 years old) died last night.
He has epilepsy resulting from a traumatic injury when he was 18 years old (car vs. pedestrian). He was in the Navy at the time and htchhiking home to say goodby before shipping off (Vietnam erra).
He has had many, many seizures which the docs have been unable to control for any length of time. Last night, while he was sleeping, he had a seizure. After 5 minutes of seizing, his wife called 911. They arrived within 5 minutes. The seizure put him into cardiac arrest and he never pulled out of it.
We are a large, close-knit family and we deal well with grief . . . but could really use some prayers for my poor mom. We also lost a sister to cancer when she was just 37 years old. My mom is quite a trooper, but it still takes a tole. Dad has alzheimers and he doesn't understand, yet, what has happened . . . but he has been a real cutie so far . . . he has a hard time seeing us cry and he does very cute things to try and help . . . just like a child would. He is such a blessing.
Thanks for your prayers.
Love and Blessings,
In His Grip,
You are such a kind and giving person, I wish I could do something to make it easier for you. Hugs are coming your way.
Take good care . . . .

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family will be in my prayers. I know at times like this it hard to believe good thoughts. Just remember that he is in much better place where there is no sickness. He will always be watching over you.

Hi,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. I will keep all of you in prayer.
I am new to the HealingWell Forum. I so encouraged to see you end your notes w/ In His Grip, Psalm 139. I have a friend who ends her notes also, In His Grip. I am a believer and welcome any comments from your perspective. I have suferred some judgement from other christians for being on medication. Have you? I have struggled with Depression/Anxiety since 1988. I am not responding well to SSRI's anymore. My Dr has put me on Cymbalta. I also struggle with Fibromyalgia. She is also suggesting taking Lymactil(sp) to help keep me from having such dips in depression. I have struggled, greatly, this last year. I had 2 surgeries in less then 6mos. One was for GERD and then my Gallbladder needing removing. I have had to quit my job due to all of this. I am still needing medications for the Gerd. I have not done well at all. Would love to hear from you.

Lots of Hugs,

Donna, I have heard people make comments like that. I have absolutely NO problem taking depression meds. If I were diabetic, I would not refuse insulin and no one would expect me to. If someone wants to argue that a Chrsitian should need such meds, then, in my opinion, they have to be ready to give up on ANY med for ANY illness. I think there is a great deal of ignorance regarding depression and the meds that treat it. Most people do not understand that the brain has a certain ideal chemistry and that many things can cause that balance to go wacko.
Sorry you've had such a rough time this year. Fibro, all by itself, can cause depression. The pain or illness from any chronic condition really contributes to deprssion. I hope you have found the Fibromyalgia forum here at Healing Well. It is a very active group. I do not have fibro, but I do have lupus and have really benefited from the Lupus forum here. It's a really great bunch. I hope fibro is a similar group.
Nice to meet you Donna!!
Blessings!
