OT: My bizarro feline attack

Holy GUACAMOLE!  I knew my loverboy Sarge could be a little frenzied, have a few loose marbles, but this morning he really showed his true colors.  The little pill attacked me in my sleep!  I was jarred to a sitting position after a blow that felt like a big lamp had dropped from the ceiling onto my face.  I put my hand to my face and realized I had blood streaming down in rivers over my cheek.  Sarge was sitting next to the bed, staring at me intently.  It felt like I had been beaten senseless!  Now I have several scratches and puncture wounds, the most noticeable of which is on my cheek and is causing the whole darn side of my face to swell like a monster.  People here at work are staring at me like I'm the victim of D.V.  Too bad Adam left early for work so I didn't have any witnesses!  My goodness!
 
I always thought Sarge's random freak-out moments were so cute.  This one was a little too cute for my tastes!

How old is he? Stuart's cat was always a little off, he told me, but by the time I got together with him, the cat was just nutso. It would scream (not meow, scream) all day long. She especially did when he was on the phone or we had gone into the bedroom and locked her out. She would get quiet if it thought we were alseep, but if we were talking, she would scream from the other side of the door. Stuart was about to get rid of her when I noticed that she had licked all the fur off her inner legs, so he took her to the vet and they found that she had something wrong with her--they thought cancer--so they put her down. But apparently she was a screamer from way back before she got ill, but just became progressively crazier as she got older. She also quit using the litter box and would run back and forth through the house wide open for an hour or more. She may have been a silly cat to begin with, but I think she went senile when she got old.

Sorry girl, I had a crazy cat like that too... He went to the pound.

Sarge has always been a little off his rocker.  There was the entire month where he wouldn't shut up ALL NIGHT LONG, just howling at the door for hours on end, when I lived in a third-floor apartment.  It got so terrible that I took him to the vet in tears and she handed me a week's worth of mild tranquilizers for him.  That actually did the trick and broke his habit.  Just FYI.

He's my baby boy, my first friend in this often-alienating state.  Got him at the no-kill shelter; when I went in to choose my cat, I couldn't decide among the 200+ kitties wandering around, so plopped myself on the floor and let them come to me.  He jumped on my shoulder like a parrot and sat there, rubbing his head against mine and purring - how could I say no to him?  He's still my honey pookie.  Always there by my side during the rough days of gut agony. 

I gave him a stern talking-to tonight.  He definitely LOOKS apologetic, anyway.

I don't post very often, mostly flurk around in the crohn's and UC sites. (I was diagnosed with UC in 2003.) I happened to see Sarita's post, since I have a siamese cat and I loves cats.
 
I'm not trying to butt in and tell you what to do, Sarita, but if I were you, I'd see a doctor, as cat bites can be very dangerous, and you say you have puncture wounds and your face is already swollen.

I hope you're OK. Your boy Sarge sounds like quite the character! Our siamese has also been howling every night, usually between 3 a.m. - 4 a.m. - doesn't make for a good night's sleep, that's for sure!

Cat scratch fever. It happens. But, amazingly enough, I've never had it, despite terrorizing my own cat and my grandmother's cat for years and getting all clawed up. I think it's related to dirty or feral cats more than cleaner house cats, but my cat was an outdoor cat for 14 years and I never got anything from him and we lived in/near the woods.

Do you have a mild cat allergy? I have one and whenever I got scratched, especially by my outdoor cat, my scratch would swell up and itch and burn like the ****ens. It went away after a day, though. I was okay to pet him and could tolerate him being in the house some, provided he stayed off the bed. Anything more made me get sniffly.

I wonder what makes cats scream like that? Boredom? Before Stuart's cat, I never knew a cat to be loud. My grandmother's cat and mine rarely made noise. Nanny's would meow loudly if she got locked in a room or if my grandmother left and she went looking for her, but mine only meowed when he greeted us or sometimes when he would be outside and it was raining and he was begging to come in.
